Was always worried about them and UCLA sneaking in late to this race. Will be interesting to see how this plays out. Not deciding until NSD anyways.

I always feel those in the hunt early always have the advantage.

If not us, I pray for OU.

For some reason--and this may all change with Sark--USC's "superstar" skill recruits have stopped scaring me. So many of them completely bust, and, when you have good lines, you take away a lot of their advantage.

I'm perfectly comfortable with how, say...

- Golson, TJ Jones, Davaris Daniels, Troy Niklas, Tarean Folston, and Cam McDaniel.

compare to

- Barkley, Marquis Lee, Nelson Agholor, Randall Telfer, Tre Madden, and Javorius Allen

in ACTUAL games.

im starting to lean that way too. ND just seems to have a hard time recruiting fresno.
Might be that some of those Fresno prospects are having a hard time choosing and confronting the academic challenge Notre Dame is offering with that football scholarship.

There is a huge concentration of schools in the Fresno area that rate at 3/10 or lower. It may not be that they have a hard time choosing it - it may be that they have never been prepared for that kind of challenge. The jump from high school to college can be hard enough without throwing in an unprepared student with football responsibilities.

Should be noted that ISD reported awhile ago (like at the beginning of the cycle) that he potentially had academic issues. Anyone heard any word on this?

Was certainly the case with Tee Shepherd, and according to some, his pal Deontay. I've no idea of Quick's individual circumstance, he may be fine, but not sure why we keep going back to this Fresno well if the kids aren't academically set up for Notre Dame.

I always thought we had a really good chance of landing him. In fact, I thought he was our next best bet after Morgan. From what I was told last night, I'm no longer optimistic.

Did I miss something on quick, or what was said about him? I saw that Loy said he only expects two more commits, maybe three, is this the news that is making everyone less optimistic about Quick and Juju?

If so, then the reaction is off-base. I just posted this in the 2014 Master List thread:

Interesting, Loy just posted his prediction for how the class ends up:

--Morgan commits to ND on the 4th.
--We get either Juju or Hendrix.
--We make room for Quick if he wants to come, Brown if he doesn't.

McKenzie doesn't qualify, Nelson takes too long and the class fills up before he decides, Schultz and Thomas choose other schools.

TIFWIW.

But there have been renewed rumors that Quick has academic issues. I think maybe that is what you missed?

Yep, spot on with missing the academic issue part, was it in today's intel or did one of Loy or Wiltfong say something?

Issues have always been there, was reported by ISD months ago. This is that time of year when semester grades are coming in and you start getting some clarity... not sure which way the chips are going to fall.

Exactly, Wiltfong said it well the other day. ND lets all these kids know what they need to do and its up to the kid to see it through. We are starting to find out right now who actually did. What I would like to know from somebody that does. Does ND gets status reports from the school as the year goes on or do we rely on the kids to do so? Reason I ask is because it wouldn't surprise me if in some of these instances we take the kids word for it and they are actually lying or maybe being less that truthful.
