As long as Nix stays for next year and gets his degree I'm fine with our DL. He is turning heads all over the country right now. I think if be stays one more year he will be a top 15 pick in the draft in 14'! As for Tuitt we have him at minimum for 1 more year! I wouldn't be surprised though if he stayed and got his degree as well! You can tell that it's important to him and his family. Just my .02

Tuitt and Nix are not gone for sure next year. They would both have another year of eligiblity after that.

Tuitt may very well come back in 2014 to finish his degree, but Nix will already have his degree in hand. As we've discussed regarding Cierre's potential 5Y, coming back to finish one's degree and coming back for a superfluous 5Y are two very different things.

And Nix is honestly the best NT in the NCAA. He's 1st round talent. I'll just be grateful if he returns for 2013.

BK and Denbrock visited Redfield's parents. He had a basketball game that limited them from contacting him until after the game, but BK decided against returning to the home to visit with Max. Christian feels it was a strategic move on Kelly's part to not visit with Max, even though the visit will still count as his in home. Parents were very impressed and feel very comfortable with Kelly. Christian also feels very, very confident in Notre Dame's chances in landing Redfield when the time comes.

Maybe I'm just naive, but can someone explain the strategy here? Playing hard to get? lmao

Glad you asked this because I've been wondering the same thing. Isn't it more likely that there were just too many awkward pauses to bear? lol.

The thinking is Max may already be sold, and that it was the parents that needed the selling on the in-home. Thus, without Max there, BK was able to focus solely on the parents without Max and his emotions in the way.

Ahhhhhh, I see I see. Makes perfect sense. Thanks, Ironman!

Does Max have any sort of decision schedule? All-star game/NSD/after visits, etc? Or is this something where if he gets the right feeling, he's just gonna jump on it?

Or Kelly didn't like what the parents had to say and decided it wasn't worth his time to meet with Max...

Did Max take the OV without his parents?

I'm not up to par with years of eligibility, but are we saying Tuitt, Nix, Shembo and Spond have 0 years of eligibility after next year, or is it we're assuming their going to the NFL. If it's them leaving for the NFL early, I'd have to disagree, because who really knows, I doubt many of us or anyone believed Teo would be back this year, but he was. IMO, it's hard to pass up getting a degree from ND, especially with the fact that your NFL career could be over in one play.

But again, if their leaving because they don't have any more years of eligibility, it's a moot point, but if they do, I wouldn't expect all of them to bail to the NFL.

Shembo and Spond will be out of eligibility after next year.

Nix has 2 years left after this year, but as Whiskey mentioned, he will have his degree and would likely be a 1st round pick. I hope he stays too though.

Tuitt is obviously a 1st rounder once he is eligible for the draft after next year (would likely be a 1st-2nd rounder after this season if he was eligible!).

Does not sound like the BK I know, and I buy Ironman's reasoning. But still not sure what it would have hurt to talk to Max since he was already there. But I suppose that is why I am in this office and BK is traveling around the country recruiting studs to play football at ND.

IMO, there is no rational argument for why Kelly wouldn't want to meet with Max. Seeing Max would only be a positive. Put it this way. If you saw BK in your house, how would you respond?

Only things I can think of is logistics (BK had to go) or the meeting with parents had run its course early (good or bad) so it was awkward and he left.

Maybe BK talked to him after his basketball game, which Kelly attended.

OOOH OOOH can I make some speculations and over analyze it too???? Lets wait and see and trust our coaches who are 12-0 and are reeling in a nasty recruiting class!

This is out of hand. Shouldn't use the word rational in a recruiting thread. Understand exactly where Kelly and Redfield's were coming from.

PS This is where Kelly completes his "RKG" evaluation on players. With the parents.

Good point. You can learn a lot about a kid by listening to the parents. Are they asking what's in it for them? Are they over inflating a kids worthiness and ability? Does it sound like they believe he deserves special privleges? Or are they asking about the education and his course of study? Where he will live? How will he be monitored? Will he get tutors if needed?

Still considering Oregon, Ohio State and Washington as well but has no visits set up at this time. Said he probably will still take an OV to SC as well.

Keep in mind thats its basically his backyard. He could be saying that you make some people happy, who really knows. With that said I don't think that USC is really a player at this point. ND and Oregon.
