What is the "uniform surprise"?

I'm an Adidas guy myself, always have been. But, if we are going to switch I understand the switch to UA. They really are becoming THE brand when it comes to athletic clothing. I have a 17 and 14 YO at home and they are part of this. UA is taking over Nike as the cool brand. They did a great job of getting their uniforms on HS teams the last five years and those kids are now in college. It was a great marketing strategy and I understand this change.

But, I don't like it.

I respectfully disagree. I remember when UA was cool when I was younger... But honestly for football UA is the biggest joke, and has no respect whatsoever.

+1

UA is for grade school kids. High school and above? All about Nike

I wouldn't say UA is ugly, but if we're not switching to Nike then just forget it.

It probably has something to do with where all this shit gets made and how it gets made and who makes it. We'll end up with some eco-friendly crap that's super expensive because it's certified by the UN labor bullshit organization or something.

In other news, I'm a cynic.

Really like Under Armour and its popular and growing. They recently signed St. John's for basketball and paid them a good sum of cash. They are trying to get big names and key location teams. This would be a good move imo.

Im curious, why are people down on this?

Auburn's jerseys are classy and I'm confident they could handle NDs regular jerseys. For the SS jerseys I would hope for somewhere between Hawaii and Maryland.

I really don't care who we go with as long as its Adidas, Nike, or UA

Maybe it's different for different regions. Everything I see since I moved to the south points to UA growing like crazy. I am amazed at the amount of UA shoes and apparel I see on HS kids down here. Even shoes, which I never thought I would see.

I prefer Adidas and wish we would stay with them.

I don't like the cut of the UA jerseys. They look like they don't over the shoulder pads properly. I would rather stick with Adidas over UA
IMO
#1 Nike
#2 Adidas
#3 UA

Besides the "cool" factor, aren't nike, Adidas, and UA the same? And isn't UA cool?

You got it.

I really won't care the more I think about this, I'm literally fine with any of them.

Really can't wrap my head around anyone who would be legitimately upset about it, disapproving, sure. But it's all the same shit.

You got it as well.

I guess I'm the only one pumped about this. I like under armour, and it's huge where I'm from.

Ive hated Adidas since the 2002 BC game when the sideline reporter "investigated" if the material in the green jerseys was the cause of 6 fumbles, which 3 were lost.

*Anybody remember that?

I honestly don't see how it's a major deal any way they go... seriously... whichever brand they choose I'm all for.

My guess is that UA is gunning hard to get Notre Dame and use us to take that next step towards being the next 'Nike'.

They know we can be a huge plus for their company to expand their brand.

Nike probably doesn't care whether or not they get us, and probably aren't trying nearly as hard as UA. Besides, if we sign with Nike aren't we just helping bankroll Oregon?

Personally I've always been a fan of Adidas - however the Techfit (sp?) jerseys look ridiculous IMO. They look like someone shrunk the laundry. This season, the mismatched jerseys were a bit embarrassing (some players stuck with last year's jersey, and the colors were noticeably different vs. this year etc).

On the whole, I'm glad to see ND tinkering with the look and trying to find something that excites the players and fans- but I feel like Adidas has been swinging wildly and missing a lot...

It's such an iconic look and brand... and it is no fun to see our players in mismatched jerseys, constantly adjusting ill-fitting jerseys, etc.

I wish I could be on Team " it doesn't matter to me" but I just can't. I think Adidas has screwed this up pretty royally. (Love the color of the pants though lol.)

Personally, I'm absolutely pumped about UA possibly being the outfitter......sorry, but the Nike brand, which is very, very marketable, and I wear Nike shoes for running, but I have way more UA workout wear. I've worn both, and I think UA has a better brand when it comes to working out, and besides, I see nothing wrong with Auburn's game day jerseys, nor South Carolina for that matter.....they seem to be winning games just fine with the clothes they are provided......JMO

It is wrong that I actually love those Northwestern Uni's?

Like... not love. But they aren't bad at all.

Is there a performance difference between the brands?

You didn't know? Everyone knows you run faster with a nike jersey. It's almost like running with a knife.

Who the hell thinks UA is cool? I've always thought it was a joke

When did a brand being cool factor into college athletics? Oh wait... we must be in jr. high. :)

I honestly don't see how it's a major deal any way they go... seriously... whichever brand they choose I'm all for.

Someone rep this man!

Wait, what are you guys talking about? UA is considered much "cooler" than Adidas, every day of the week. C'mon now. I would love the change to UA.

Hell I think some of the blue chip recruits choose the Under Armour All American game simply for the gear.

Seriously. UA is solid brand. They make some outstanding gear and have put a lot of money into R&D on their equipment. I use a lot of it for hunting and it is all very, very good stuff. This will be a great thing and the gear available for us fans will be heads above what Adidas is giving us and on par with Nike.

You have to remember, UA is only 13 years old, with many of those early years being sold out of the trunk of the founder. This is a young brand, who is rapidly on the rise, is already better than the 89 y/o Adidas.
