That last scholarship almost certainly goes to Tausch unless there is some surprise no one knows about. Either that or Slaughter wins his appeal. Doubtful they'd give it to the punter this year unless, as people said, he was promised one if there was one available.

Interesting note in ISD's recruiting notebook...

Apparently there will be another walk on specialist in the fall in addition to Antognoli and Chereson. A punter who has "legit experience."

Man! This is good news for me beyond what I thought possible. Coach Kelly the miracle worker!.

My worry about punting was "intuitive". Kyle was always advertised as a kicker first and a punter maybe. But even with kicking he struggled to get his head under control it seemed and needed a while to settle down. Now we were going to load him up with a second, very different, kicking chore and hope that he just cruised into it.

Maybe Kyle will be great at both, BUT having these other guys there to pick from makes me feel FAR better about this crucial phase of football.

Applause Coach! You've done your best again.

Yep I agree OMM. I'm interested to see who the new guy is. ISD said more would be available soon, probably when things are official? I know there was some talk of a punter from either an Ivy or a lower division school who was looking to spend his last season of eligibility on the FBS level. If I recall correctly he had legit interest in Notre Dame. Anyone remember who that was?

Just looked in the Master List and found this link posted by TheChosen1. His name's Paul Layton and he plays at Albany. I think this is who you were thinking of.

"After meeting with Ford, Layton provided the Albany coaching staff with a list of eight schools he's interested in. Among them were programs from the ACC, Big Ten, Big East and Pac-12. Layton also included Notre Dame."

Would be a great class, but I am substituting Thomas for Hendrix. I don't see us landing Thomas, although it would be nice.

Would have to think he's referring Solomon Thomas, right? Maybe Jamal Adams or Arrion Springs?

His recruiting territory includes Louisiana, correct? Last few years after the regular season it seems like ND has gotten into the mix with mystery recruits that really didn't show much interest during the season so maybe we can dream that the prospect the Cooks is referring to is Leonard Fournette. VBG

Speedy Noil or Malachi Dupre perhaps.

I would highly doubt any of the names on that list.

I think it's gotta be Thomas. Wiltfong posted that there are 13 2014 guys left on our board, and the only one in Cooks' territory is Thomas. (I guess that means that things aren't going anywhere with Springs ... there was some recent contact.)

Of course, the bolded is true. There could be a mystery recruit that Wiltfong doesn't know about yet. But I doubt it's Fournette, Noil or Dupre.
