If Saban actually goes to UT then I will be literally floored. I just can't buy all the talk right now.

I agree. If Coker enrolls for the spring semester, Saban knows he will have a great chance at the next two titles. At UT, it will take him two years to get the dead weight gone. Money does talk so we will have to see.

I would love to join in on the hammering of Nick Saban on this but I cannot in good conscious do so.

I was living in Cinci when BK left and came to ND. He handled that about as poorly as it could have been handled. He out and out lied about his intentions and then announced at the award banquet his true intentions and left. As much as I want to make fun of AL fans and what Saban is doing, I just can't.

I think it's true that all coaches do it. Saban has just been one of the most adamant about blaming the media for making stuff up. But, yes, it's the game.

I honestly don't remember a lot of the details about that but I don't see why BK has to be brought into the conversation at all. I don't remember anyone saying BK would never do this, etc. Many of us just don't believe a word that comes out of Saban's mouth.

My point is that this is what coaches do. You can't believe a word any of them say when they are pursuing another job. It's what coaches do, it's how the game is played. We shouldn't expect to hold Saban to a higher level than we do our own coach.

There's just too much chatter out there for nothing to be happening with the Texas coaching situation, but at this point the Saban theory seems fishy. I feel like myself and a lot of other people have been blinded a little bit by the Texas fans' constant "of course Saban would leave Bama. because Texas, that's why".

IMO, either Texas administration or a powerful booster who's unhappy or someone else who's in a position to do so is using Saban to Texas as a way to pressure Mack Brown into resigning so that a new coach can be hired whether Saban's willing to come or not.

This makes no sense to me at all. Why would talk of bringing Saban in make Brown want to resign, but any other coach wouldn't? If they want Brown out, I don't think they need to show him that by courting another coach.

The real issue for me is the fact that Saban is an absolute control freak. He runs the football program and everything associated with it with an iron fist. I simply can't see the Texas big money boosters stepping aside and giving him the controls. End of the day, Saban stays at Bama and if Texas was smart they would be giving Briles a call. The guy is a great coach and has every inroad in Texas already covered. The Longhorn's need to swallow a little pride and get the best coach that would go there... and that is Briles.

And there's this. I think the BOR is just trying to cover their ass and didn't want it leaked.

Mack officially steps down soon (leak today), Saban to Texas, Kirby to HC of Bama, Narduzzi to DC of Bama. Book it. I'm still buying that 247 report from weeks ago

anyone who believes a orangeblood report is wacko. Only way i see him leaving is if they have Saban lined up.

“@slmandel: Just remember how Texas/DeLoss Dodds vehemently shot down @ChipBrownOB's Sept. report the AD was stepping down and then he did just that.”

I tend to believe these stories from lower tier reporters because I doubt they would risk their entire careers over a completely false report. I'm confident this Orangebloods guy heard it from a credible source.

Shannon Terry (CEO of 24/7 Sports) keeps saying that the chances of Saban leaving are in the negative %'s at this point. Now normally I wouldn't put much into what he says but he is a huge Bama supporter and if there is any program he would have sources at, it would be there.
