I really doubt there is any recruiting impact outside of bringing a Notre Dame home game into Holley's neck of the woods.

Buster, I agree that the location probably has zero recruiting implications, but since we're likely going to be playing a 2nd tier opponent, winning vs. losing could either look good or really, really bad depending on the outcome. I completely believe that the difference between winning and losing this game will be at least one recruit, either committed currently or uncommitted at this time.

There's no "good" unless we thrash them by 30+, which we won't - not because we don't have a great deal more talent, but because we have to allow for the sluggish start and turnovers.

Pinstripe Bowl may not be as done of a deal as being reported by others. i'm told Irish aren't making final decision until the morning.

One Notre Dame source told me that the Pinstripe Bowl is not the only bowl the Irish are still talking to at this time.

Doesn't mean ND isn't going to end up in the Pinstripe Bowl. It's the likely destination just that its not done done just yet it appears.

So a 2nd/3rd tier bowl selection has turned into a recruiting saga...and/or people just trying to get their voices heard.

Its a big deal, because you know 12-0 doesn't seal the deal.

Edit: keuhjna beat me to it.

Also, it's important to remember that the swag from the Pinstripe Bowl trumps the other ones hard. And we may have even negotiated for more swag lol.

For college kids, this is actually one of if not the single biggest thing that matters to them about the bowl.

Then maybe we should go to the bowl that offers no swag so they can focus on winning.

Thus making their own swag.

Each year, most of the bowls shower the participating players in goodies-- Beats by Dre headphones, NCAA '14, X-Box Ones, etc. Better bowls hand out better loot.

Would SMU be a possibility if they pull of the upset today?

Every AAC team is technically a possibility save UCF who is headed to the BCS and Cinci who already accepted a bid.

I looked and tickets and flights are cheap, but hotels, good lord. I'm seeing if I can crash with a buddy who lives there.

I may be throwing a tailgate. If so, all are invited to stop by for a beer.

I'm going for the basketball game and hotels were only $134 each for two nights for the five of us. Strength in numbers.

I'm just going with one friend, but will keep looking. All the ones so far are the nice ones anyways. Maybe I'll find the "St James Motel" Tom Hanks stayed at in Big, sure that will be cheap.

If the NYC hotels are too expensive, you might want to check out White Plains. It's not the city, but it's an hour train ride from Grand Central and usually has reasonable hotel rates. The hotels in Queens/Flushing/Jamaica are also pretty cheap usually.
