“@HeismanPundit: Sarkisian had big USC boosters in his corner who're more interested in being buddy-buddy with new coach than winning national championships.”

I smell a dumpster fire burning already

This is so true. I want to dig up my post from earlier in the USC thread where I talked about what my USC friend had to say on Sark... they basically had him in their back pocket the entire time with a deal in principle in place since Kiffin was let go and the only thing that dropped him down the list is that he had a crappy season.

This whole thing is comical and has a pretty fair chance of being a complete catastrophe.

. Great coach plus he's bringing Tosh with him and maybe Wilcox. Xbox live bill will be through the roof though.

Still don't understand where this "Sark is a great coach" thing comes from. He's a younger Charlie Weis: brilliant offensive mind, great OC, very average head coach who's being overpaid.

A long long time ago
I can still remember how Pete Carroll used to make me smile
And I knew while he lead the team, that we'd play smart and we'd play mean
but it only made me happy for a while...
Because he left us for Seattle
And Kiffin's teams: they couldn't tackle.
"Not enough players to practice"
We fired him when things looked blackest.

I can't remember if I cried,
When I read about what Haden tried,
In all of his misbegotten pride:
The Day the Trojans died.

oh my my, this Sarkisian guy,
Coached at U-Dub, a lousy ballclub
Now he's SC's on the sly.
And this coaching search is just another black eye
Seems Haden's just a Notre Dame spy.
Yes Haden's just a Notre Dame spy.

Did you watch Saturdays with love
and did you scream to God above
when the PA told you so?

Do you believe in Trojan Pride?
Then you just watch as Haden hides
while the fans tell him where to go

Well I can't believe we ended up with him
His career at U-Dub, it was looking grim
Their fans were shouting their boos
So many games he did lose!

I know we're a team down on our luck
but there's no excuse to hire this shmuck
Truth be told this simply sucks

The day the Trojans died

I started singing
my my, this Sarkisian guy,
Coached at U-Dub, a lousy ballclub
Now he's SC's on the sly.
And this coaching search is just another black eye
Seems Haden's just a Notre Dame spy.
Yes Haden's just a Notre Dame spy.

So now we're just left singing the blues,
Begging and pleading "this can't be true!"
But ESPN's reports just won't go away

So I went to the SC message board
for some good news, but I was floored
The man there said Sark was here to stay

And in the threads I hollered and screamed
this was worse than I ever dreamed

So many swear words were spoken
the board rules all were broken

And the two men responsible the most;
Niklas and Haden seem to boast
both love this loser from the northern coast

Did you see what he did at Washington after the way Willingham left it? He turned a dumpster fire and he helped put Washington on the map. No moral victories but he almost beat Oregon and Stanford this year. He's a Carroll guy and he actually got kids to come to Washington. He knows USC and what it's all about. USC wasn't getting Sumlin or Petersen so why not get someone who knows SC.

I'm in this camp. I'm hoping what LAX is saying holds water, but I can't help but feel this was the right hire for them.

Yes, they went from horrible to mediocre. I'll take a mediocre usc.

I agree with what you are saying but make a couple changes it sounds similar to one of our former coaches. I hope Sak is SCs Weis.

Surprised to see ND fans here reacting like this is terrible news for us. All I know is that UW people are thrilled and USC people are pissed, so that seems like a good combination of things to me. Anyone would recruit to USC. I'm not convinced Sark is a football mastermind. He certainly hasn't proved that yet.

So we shouldn't panic when Sark takes SC to a BCS bowl his first two years?

That is the best way for me to view it since these two teams know more about sark than me.

I will say this though, I miss kiffen already

LOVE the idea of bringing in Ed O...hire him for big bucks and turn elston into a full time special teams coach.

won't happen and prolly couldn't make it work, but it would be awesome

For our sakes I am glad it's not Sumlin or Petersen because that would be a home run hire. But Sark is a good coach IMO.

Agreed. We've seen what Ty can do to a program and it took years for us to recover. Sark did a decent job making UW respectable. USC is a much better platform and already more talented than UW.

This. He may or may not be good hire... but let's not pretend this guy can't coach... those comments are far more laughable than the chicken little ones (though those are silly too)...

I think Sark is a better hire than Peterson would have been,... I also think Sumlin is pretty overrated... the guy can't build a defense to save his life...

Take a look at UW scores during sarks time.

Just looking at the points UW has given up on defense in his time, I'd bet he's the worst defensive coach of the 3 coaches mentioned.

I know more goes into ppg than simply who's the head coach, but the numbers are ugly.

He lost by 21 to Oregon, who turns out isn't even that good.

Washington has beat maybe 1 good team per year the last 3-4 years.
