Has anyone uncovered a reliable source? I can only find it on UHND and another forum. I do not trust the info. I am really hoping that it is just crap.

It's more than safe to say with this program that when there's smoke there's a fire. The only time I've been pleasantly surprised as far as rumors was when Greg Bryant didn't transfer. And it's not like that won't happen in the future anyway.

A guy on ISD who is 1000% legit with all his info just said they are not making the trip. I trust this guy as much as I would Woltfong, that's how legit he is.

Sucks!

Redfield time! Would love to see Collinsworth continue his play from last weekend and I hope Farley can have a big game. Poor kid has had a rough go this year.

You have to think Redfield will get major time. We don't really have much to lose, and this is his chance for big time experience heading into the off season. Personally, I think the staff has screwed up if they burn his RS and all he has to show for it is 8 minutes of time against Air Force at the end of the year.

I actually think that this game is going to be won or loss in the trenches. If we need our safties to be making a bunch of tackles it's going to be a very long day. Nonetheless, I hope Farley has his best game or it's going to be a very long off season for him...and the rest of us.

What a blown year for Shumate. And Hardy was really coming on.

Stanford has been pretty inconsistent this year, when on... Good luck, but they have played down a lot also.... If they aren't on, and Tommy protects the ball.. ND wins.

If true, isn't the second incident for Hardy? Didn't he stay home for the Purdue game as well?

Yes that is correct. I was just about to call Hardy out for this. If true he can't keep hurting his team like this.

Turning Point tell Hardy to get is act together or just go home!

And special teams all year...

There you go screwing up a good argument w actual facts. Son of a bitches.

Not to be a jerk, but what does that matter?

Because you think Redfield is a career kick off guy? Or because you think running down on kick off coverage contributes to the his development/learning of the safety position? If you do. that's fine, but I don't see how that transitions, so I disagree.

He's had next to no exposure at safety, and the ~8 minutes against Air Force doesn't really help, because they're such an a-typical offense.

It really irritates me that a smart and talented kid can't get on the field because he's having trouble with schemes. Didn't Belichick say that was part of the problem? Too technical instead of pinning these kids ears back a little bit and let them play football. Sometimes I just don't think our defense lets kids play aggressive, which is why they appear slow on the field. Too much thinking, not enough aggression. But of course, just my opinion.

I don't know if it translates or not, but Kelly maintains that it does.

Agree. Just look at Redifield's Sr highlights.. You can't tell me that he isn't one of the best options that they have at the safety position.

Just because special teams coverage doesn't translate to safety progress doesn't mean it's not useful for the program. Simply saying, he did a lot more than eight minutes against Air Force.

He's had next to no exposure at safety,

Except for every day in practice.

Help what? His progress at safety? I'm honestly wondering why you're just dying to get Redfield a baptism by fire. He'll play the moment he's ready. If he's really the mega-athlete you, me, the recruitniks, and the staff think he is, he won't be around for the fifth year anyway. Might as well get him eight minutes of Air Force time and use him on special teams.

In a way, the worst thing that can happen is for him to have to play against Stanford, Diaco reallllly go vanilla with the calls as a result, then Hogan try to pick on him and Redfield gets an interception or something. Then, there's an off-season of "I told you so!" looming overhead.

Fox and carlo must play their finest game and stuff the run for 4 qtrs

Tommy must not throw an int!

Farley and bjax have got to grow a pair and tackle

Niklas needs to be targeted at least 10 times

Got to execute on KO team...no drives starting at the 40

We got to take several chances deep...Fuller with a big play late

Trick play alert....we have nothing to lose...onside kick, flee flicker?

Tuitt and Shembo must be in full fledged PSYCHO mode for 60 minutes

Brindza is the difference

You are all missing the big picture. If Hardy and Shumate are out that leaves 4 scholarship safeties for the game. Collinsworth, Farley, Redfield and Turner. That is not good! This also really hurts special teams.

On a side note every time Collinsworth lines up in man situation I would throw at him deep every time.

I don't see how this is a bad thing. I'd much rather win than be right.

When talking about Redfield... here's something to think about... would Jaylon Smith be Jaylon Smithing if Spond didn't retire? Almost assuredly no. Spond would've played at least 60-80% of the snaps at that positions, and Jaylon only would've gotten sprinkled in. In fact, he was in a heavy timeshare with Councell even after Spond went down.

Would anyone argue we are not better off now having Jaylon make his many early mistakes, but also grow through meaningful reps? He has progressed every single week because he was thrust into the fire.

That's what I don't get about the Redfield situation. Maybe the other safeties are just flat out playing better in practice. Hardy/Shumate were both highly rated, and Farley/Collinsworth are the only people with a bit of experience back there. But IF he is showing glimpses of being the most dominant athlete the time to get him reps is now... not in 2014 against an even harder schedule with Golson back while trying to compete for a BCS bowl.

If a DOG makes a serious mistake, it's a first down. If a safety makes a serious mistake, it's a touchdown.

In what game do they give him the serious reps? Outside of Temple and Air Force, every game has been pretty close.

It is extremely frustrating seeing the current starters get toasted and missing tackles while a highly touted player sits and watches. I trust this staff but like stated above, there is no way in hell Jaylon Smith would be playing like this if Spond was healthy.

I am not too hopeful against Stanford. Without injuries, I think we could smoke them. As is, it could get ugly.

Not buying this. If USC could beat them, with much greater depth issues than us, we should be at least competitive, if not, win the game.
