Justin Hilliard and Jashon Cornell would be the best LB haul ever.

Agreed. However, if we close with Anzalone last year Deeb, Randolph, Smith, and Anzalone was voted as the best LB haul in the country prior to Alex sketch bailing.

Thanks for the update, do you know who might get cut for Hilliard? His top three is us, Iowa, and OSU right? Would be nice for Urban to be cut for a top prospect from his own state.

Thanks Lax.

Reading your update sounds more positive than some of the posts in the recruits threads. lol

It's that time of the week again...

-On Barnett, far from calling this a done deal. Could happen, not a certainty. Has a playoff game tonight on Fox Sports West.
-On Jhonny Williams, ND could definitely flip him and we're in better position than Michigan right now for sure.
-On Morgan, seems like we're very close with Ole Miss. Vandy seems to be trailing now, and if academics becomes the deciding factor we should win out over them.
-On Golson, hard to gauge progress but reports have been glowing.
-On frosh who are redshirting, Hunter/Bryant/Smythe/McGlinchey listed as guys showing flashed of brilliance.
-Still feel good on Hendrix but he has always planned on taking all his visits.
-Coaches like where they stand with Juju (I don't).
-Hill and Sykes are both takes with Tranquill on board.
-Melvin Keihn is a name to keep an eye on.
-McKenzie will take the test again on December 7th. Continues to improve on his academics... the score will be do or die on how this pans out.
-Erik Brown has shut it down after flipping to Cal. Cross him off the list.

-On BYU... reading between the lines it sounds like the coaches have very little faith in being able to stop their O, and why should they with the decimated DL including no Big Lou? BYU only has 2 sacks in their 3 losses and fails to get pressure on the QB if they're playing against a decent OL. If they're going to be vulnerable, it sounds like it will be because of the ability for Tommy to take shots with his arm... still, with the wind + snow + cold that seems unreliable... and look for us to run the ball to try to keep BYU's up tempo offense off the field. Honestly, the more I look at this game I see potential embarrassment. If we were playing in a dome, I'd like our chances... I just feel like our O will be hurt much more than theirs by the conditions.

Do you guys think we have one more dl spot and one more lb left in the front seven?

Man, who knows anymore!

I'd say that OL and QB are the only safe bets to think the staff is done. We may end up with like 9 CAT's though.

I think we potentially take at least 3 more front 7 players if we can get them and they're the right guys. Wouldn't be surprised to see us take 4... two linebackers (Hill + Sykes/Morgan) and two DL (Jhonny Williams + a DT... Griffin, Holley, Elam, etc.).

The remaining spots go to 1 speedster/return specialist + Quick + Luatua if we can get those guys... plus probably Hendrix if no Juju. That puts us over our target number, but you have to imagine there will be some stuff will be shaking out and we will miss one someone somewhere.

No. It sounds like, maybe depending on timing, we would take all of Sykes, Hill and Morgan. (If Morgan commits first--which is extremely unlikely -- then I'm not sure whether we would take both of Sykes and Hill.)

At DL, I get the impression that Jhonny Williams has the green light, but it's not like we wouldn't take Elam or Holley if he committed first.

Basically, the amount of people we take at a particular position may depend on timing.

It's cause Diaco is creating the Cat Attack defensive scheme. Without a great NT and inexperience at MLB next year, the defense is going to evolve into this:

-------------------------------------
-------------FS---------------------
------CAT------------SS-----------
DB---CAT-----------------------DB
------CAT-----------------DOG----
------CAT---DE-----DE------------

It will really be a cat fight out there

In your opinion would we take both Sykes and MOrgan if they wanted to both come? I assume that Morgan is a take no matter what but would they take Sykes even if Morgan were to commit before? They might be able to shift Tranquill to Dog or safety or just take a bunch of ILBs

I think it's possible, but as far as I've seen no one has said, and that's likely because no one expects Morgan to decide quickly. All anyone has been saying about him is that he will take till signing day.

Thanks, I guess I missed your post above about it too. There's no date on Sykes either right

That's a very good question, and I don't know what the answer is. I think it could go either way.

Sykes could commit tomorrow. He almost committed when he was offered, but Martin told him to hold off till he visited.

I didn't see that Sykes was visiting. Did he get added, or were you just talking about how strong his interest is?
