Historic win for sure. I usually root for Barca in La Liga and against other major clubs, but real glad to see Celtic shock the world.

is that the greatest soccer upset ever?

no. It's not like Celtic is a Junior Varisty squad and they have a history of doing this at Parkhead... It's one of the hardest places in the world to win for an away side....

but the biggest thus far this year...? yeah, definately the biggest that comes to mind

I'd love to see the two teams payrolls compared

no doubt... it would be pretty crazy... I still would like to see Celtic go south. They were estimated to be in the same ballpark with Barca, Man U and Real in terms of value if they were to ever play in the EPL... the SPL is holding them back.

Do you think its the strong call for all things Independent in Scotland that is stoping them Acamp?

This a small example but I know Scotland didn't join Team GB for Olympic soccer because they didn't want FIFA to they think they could make it permanent.

Celtic applied the The Championship this past spring... the resistance in on England's end...

I do believe some of that played into their denial...

I also tend to think it's a matter of time...

I hope so. In my opinion the more good teams the better. With all the money in the league now a days it would not shock me to see 6-7 teams that can illegitimately challenge for the title in 5-7 years. Obviously, Man City, Man U, and Chelsea will be there for the foreseeable future. But once Arsenal fully pays off their stadium they will be formidable once again. Also, Spurs and Liverpool lurk in the shadows as possible sleeping giants if they ever follow through with their new stadium plans. If Celtic joins i'd say with the worldwide interest in the club, and the factor of having one of the toughest away grounds in all of Europe they would be a top 7-8 side in the PL in very little time.

Being a Newcastle fan in England I think they are comparable to Newcastle year to year... but given 5-10 years of EPL income they would be in the elite group of those competing for Euro titles consistently I have no doubt,... Too much money in the onwership, too big a world wide brand, too much potential income, too much stadium income... only thing missing is the league they play in.

Agree with all that. Hopefully it happens soon. Also, I didn't mean to leave Newcastle out of possible title contenders in future years. Just think Ashley needs to loosen up those (1.7 billion $ net worth) purse strings and with their great support and amazing stadium can challenge in near future. If the Premier League could get about 8 top, top clubs in it the possibilities are endless.

I didn't take it that way... I always hope, but until proven otherwise Newcastle will always be a solid middle table team to me... it's been what... 90 years since they won a top flight title??? That's a pretty good sample size...

still love their fans, relationship with Celtic, history (they remind me of the Cubs), and the fact they are are very close to Scotland

I think if Celtic moves to England they stand a great chance of being right up there with the Man U's of the world within a decade... I don't think that's homerism

Tend to agree. With the new UEFA Fair Play Regulations, teams such as Celtic with huge fan bases, great stadium gates, and I imagine a half-decent youth academy are at a huge advantage.

Manchester City are trying to increase all three of those. Mainly youth academy which will hopefully begin to show itself within the next 10 years.

I like some parts of UEFA fair play rules. All you need to do is look as Rangers as what can happen if you let people play by their own rules. But I'm scared that they will mean teams such as Sunderland, Fulham, Everton, Aston Villa will lose any ambition because they know they will never generate the revenue to compete with the big boys without and influx of owners own money which would lead to sanctions.

Best atmosphere ever!!!!!! No sporting event i have ever been to, even remotely compared to Parkhead on Wednesday night.

Watching Rod Stewart crying his eyes out at the end of the game was brilliant. :)

Celtic 125 Notre Dame 125

Hail Hail
