Kinda irrelevant but we should have a weekly poll of the most disliked posters. The the top 3 get banned for a week while the most disliked gets banned for a month.

Why? We already are loaded to the gills with the pressure to conform to 'respected' posters opinions. This would ratchet that up even further.

And it's totally relevant. Did you see what thread we're in? Lol.

I'm sorry, I do not have time. I don't care how we compare to Weis era.
I see our defense unable to move in space and our special teams is sub par. What's the cause of that? Who knows. It's probably a myriad of things.

Wow.

Wouldn't it be itonic if someone were to be banned for posts made in the Banned Users thread?

Wow.

I'm afraid you're the only one adding the 'wow factor' tonight.

Have a good night bud.

What kind of "pressure" are you talking about?

Respected posters like, whiskeyjack, ironman, NDinLA,

Where are you getting this "pressure" from?

I've said for 5 weeks that Farley cannot be a starting safety at this level, and we need to give Max/Hardy a try. I got killed by clowns like you for this. Was I wrong?

I said since Oklahoma week (when everyone was loving GAIII) that he needs to see less carries in lieu of Folston. I got killed by clowns like you for this, especially with GAIII coming off of a huge game. Was I wrong?

I said 2 years ago that GAIII would make a better safety than RB and that he didn't have the genes for RB. No cutting ability, not a 'tough' runner, etc. I got killed by clowns like you for this (I was actually told that 'the sharks were circling me') Was I wrong?

I said Rick Rilley would be allowed on campus to paint the helmets. I bet ONE MILLION vbucks to another poster's ONE over it. I got killed by clowns like you for this. I came out ONE vbuck richer.

I'm not saying I'm always right, I'm not. I'm wrong a lot too. But this list above could go on and on. Do you really want to prevent people (me) from sharing my opinion? I'm not wrong as often as you'd like me to be.

Frankly, you guys waste wayyyyy too much time getting your panties in a bunch over my opinions. I'm not going to stop calling it like I see it. That's what a discussion board is for.

Quote a single post that I've made against ANY OF THOSE.

Stop changing the subject.

We are fully entitled to our opinions, it's also expected when you say something stupid you're going to be called on it.

When you consistently say stupid things, (not meaning you) it deserves to be called on.

That's just how it is

Edit: case in point. You won't take the time to read the article I posted about S&C, yet you call Longo "overrated"

What have I said that was stupid?

Are you talking about the Longo thread? Do you think our defense and special teams is fast? If you truly think we're a fast defense and special teams, let's just agree to disagree. There's no way I'll agree that we're a fast defense and special teams.

I'm sorry, but I cannot follow this conversation with you.

I'm sorry you're upset that I'm skeptical of Longo's work. Please don't let it ruin your night. Have a good night.

I made no claims about Bryant transferring. Please, point to one.

I asked a question about S/C coaches and how they are reviewed. Look at the thread, the '?' is in the title.

Brian Kelly wants academics to loosen up. I also believe there needs to be some compromise. Sue us.

This is another case of a tenured poster trying to suffocate another poster for no reason. Just like your uncalled for neg-rep of Palinurus the other day.

When did I offend you? Yet you constantly take shots at my intelligence, which I would wager against yours any day.

We have a different opinion on things. GET OVER IT.

I don't think so. There's 'rumors' that don't look good if true.

- BK said yesterday we have a 4 man rotation at RB. The only logical way to interpret this is Folston, Amir, GAIII, and Cam based on the fact that Folston is getting carries.

- Greg allegedly walked off of the field after the game, rather than join the rest of the team for song.

- Another rumor that the someone from the ISD tailgate party was telling everyone that Bryant is transferring.

- Fans speculating about his body language during games while on the sideline, apparently looking distant and disinterested.

These could all be fan driven, simply because everyone expects a 4/5 star player to demand playing time, but if you look at the totality of the circumstances there's room to worry IMO.

But that's just your opinion, and it's not polite to point

I don't think it's so much a "mob mentality" in terms of differing opinions... there is plenty of awesome, level-headed debate that goes on around here. However, I think there is a "mob mentality" when it comes to simply "piling on."

When one poster lights into another poster about something, even if it's just a petty personal argument, other posters begin to pile on. This is not always the case, but it does happen. Sometimes it is deserved, and other times it feels like people are joining in just because they smell blood in the water.

But that's just my opinion lol.

This is a forum built on opinions, with out them it wouldn't exist. Who ****ing cares if someone else agrees. If you want to make it a discussion, do it. If you don't, shut the **** up.

In the same token you also leave yourself open for criticism.

Forum peer pressure? I've been around here a long time and have no idea what this is even referring to.

Some folks are very negative, some are totally Pollyanna. I mean, you have the "Why can't we be like Alabama School" and you have the "Don't you say mean things about any Irish coach or player -- everything's great - :)" School; some tend to be in some gradation of these two schools.

The biggest group of IE posters, though, are in a middle, (to me) more interesting school that would like ND to be a top tier football program, without the warts that the Factories have, and still maintain our Catholic (but welcoming to all), traditional, special character, and they are tough, but fair critics. This view allows sharp criticism of players, the coaches, the school and the program, but loves it all, underneath, but knows it can and should be better, and they voice that. Not that the other two groups don't love the school -- they definitely do -- but those loves are either too tough or too soft, in my opinion.

Personally, I get more frustrated with the "everything's great" School, because I think it is the midwife of mediocrity, which I don't want ND to be. This is why, though I generally like Kelly and think he's a pretty good coach, I really dislike his "It's tough to win college football games; I'm always happy with a win _____(fill in the blank) on the road/against a stubborn service academy/in the opener" plea at press conferences, which I think is a massive cop out. Sure it's tough, and he's right on the surface, and I rather win than lose, too. But the way he says it, it sounds like an excuse, and I think the team lives down to that standard a little in its inconsistent play.

Good teams -- and ND ought to be one of the best -- should be able to generally kick the h-ell out of the Navys and Pitts of the world. A tough game -- let down/look ahead situations, I get -- but narrow wins vs. Navy, Purdue, Temple are just not what we -- or Kelly -- should find acceptable. I know you want to be optimistic as a coach, but he needs to express love of his team but less patience with his product in public, and really ought to make some changes in private -- both among less than superb coaches and underachieving players.

I know this is a little off the topic of banned users, but to me this is what is underneath all the angst.

I'm just saying that having an opinion that hasn't been patted on the back by other users is usually not well received.

I called out GAIII before anyone (I think?) and same with Farley, and half of the board erupts and all of a sudden 'I'm a complete moron'.

That is ridiculous that people get upset by that opinion.

Fair enough. I think it boils down to how the opinion is presented. Opinion is not right or wrong, so don't present it as a fact and get butthurt when people disagree. This is not directed at you personally.

Very fair post. I lean toward the Pollyanna side, no question. But I think this team is just miles ahead of where we were 5 years ago. I'll cite the evidence of a national championship game appearance last year, which the other side totally discounts.

I also think there's a difference between coach speak after a close game and locker room talk on Tuesday.

But, yes, a good post.
