Looks like we're #1 across all sports:

Number 3 in football grad and 24-6, tied for 6th best FBS record in past 30 games. Sounds like a lot of win.

I've heard a few times (but never actually verified) that Bob Huggins never graduated a player while at Cinncinnati. If true, it's an abomonation. Maybe that it was that he never graduated anyone in 4 years but either way it's an absolute joke.

He didn't graduate any players over his last two seasons at UC, but I'm not sure about before then. I was too young to pay attention at the time.

I have a feeling that ND's shamrock game is going to be the Syracuse game, its going to get harder and harder to schedule these games so it may start being situations in which we play a smaller school near their stadium

Would i be down with ND playing at Lucas Oil Stadium 15 minutes from my house? Absolutely

I thought we discussed Syracuse in depth in the Shamrock thread a week or two ago. As Jimmymac noted Shamrock games are ND Home Games played elsewhere. That requires that they are televised under the ND/NBC TV contract.

Any game with ANY conference team with a conference TV contract that is played in that conference's territory has to be to televised under that conferece's TV contact. That's why PAC 12 teams WSU and ASU played ND in Texas which isn't a PAC 12 market.

It's not just a neutral field that's a requirement, ND/NBC have to have the TV rights.

Not sure what it was but Huggins rate was abominable.

A bunch of years ago, Cheney of Temple and John Thompson of Georgetown had abominable grad rates but great win rates. When the NCAA started tightening academic requirements they both screamed racism as young black men would be denied an education. It was pointed out that Temple and G'town obviously were NOT educating them by their horrible GSR. Cheney replied that many of these youths were only in school to play basketball not to go to school. Tighter academic requirements would doom them to the streets and so was racist.

Has next year's Shamrock Series game been announced yet?

Hasn't been announced I don't think but I saw somewhere Purdue at Lucas Oil Stadium was being discussed.

Almost certainly not a credible source.

Thats an awesome stat but clearly Kelly winning close games is because of luck, we should have lost all of those.

Seriously though this is a huge testament to the coaching staff. Everything from mental toughness, game management, halftime adjustments, etc. Its about time people start to realize this.

Meh, I think in some ways it's a meaningless stat.

I mean I guess it's good they win close games...but it's pretty irrelevant when they are losing games by 14, 28 points in that span as well.

I understand your point, but I think the biggest takeaway should be the fact that ND loses those close games in the past... not so anymore.

No kidding. I think we all forget how bad it was under Willingham. I'm not even bringing up how we lost a lot of close games under Weis, but we have been losing in both blowouts and close games for a decade. Now we are one of the best teams in the country when it comes to winning close games. That's our identity. Our identity under Willingham was slow/unathletic. Under Weis, we were talented but soft. Under Kelly... we are clutch.

We now have an identity that says that if a team better come out and simply outplay us, because even if they are equal/better talent-wise (USC, Stan, OU, Mich, MSU, ASU, etc)... they better play out of their minds... because if they leave the door open, we win more times than not.

Very good point to bring up. Its not just the Navy's of college football we are beating in close games. We are beating some good to very good teams when it counts.
