I know it is small sample size but Amir has 133 yards on 19 carries that's 7 YPC. Not bad get him more touches.

His 45-yard scamper is scewing that by 2+ yards per carry, but still impressive. He was at 6+ ypc at USC. He's definitely our most skilled back at this point in time.

This thread should never be bumped until he graduates.

Agreed. RBs aren't expected to hold blocks like linemen, just slow down defenders. Big fan of Amir's work so far.

Plus, Mathers looked like a short bus rider in that interview. wtf

after re-watching the michigan game--amir is my leader of the pack from the RB position. he should clearly be the #1.

runs hard through the hole--durability was in question

can make the quick move to the outside and break away--

pretty good hands--better than what we've seen so far from GA3

great in pass coverage

i think you go Amir then GA3 as the Emerald Isle change of pace back--so sparingly.
and greg bryant/cam mcdanial as the 2A/2B

I would have to say Amir and Cam as the starting backs with Bryant and GAIII to come in for special plays. GAIII just doesn't seem to have the hands to warrant being the starting back. Amir can catch and is very explosive, doesn't block poorly. Cam runs between the tackles very well and blocks well.

I still think Folston is the best back on the team.

gotta like what we've seen there too. if hendrix makes a pass, GB's touches increase against temple.

i like that combination for the future. but we have this GA3/amir/cam/GB/TF situation for another year---ooohhhh booyyyy!

If Folston is the best back on the team, he would be starting. He has the potential, and I do see him getting increasing touches in the future, but he's obviously not there yet.

I thought Amir looked GREAT on Saturday. He looked like a guy who can do it all. I honestly don't know why there is quite so much talk about the freshmen RBs when we have a budding star in Amir.

I agree, though I do think there remains quite a bit of excitement over Amir's talent. There also remains questions about his health and durability. As for the freshmen, it could be a couple of things: (1) ND has dealt with defection lately from young players with potential. There's a fear that they could bounce if they don't see the rock enough. (2) Their redshirts were burned early. Let's make the most of this year.

But I agree, Amir is the guy right now. It's a nice problem to have.

Lou Holtz frequently said, "The favorite QB at Notre Dame is the one not playing."

To paraphrase, "The favorite RB at Notre Dame is the one not playing."

That idea is almost always exclusive to QBs.
