Is it just me, or did Dan Patrick seem disinterested in that entire segment? Seems like he had no interest in talking to BK but he had to. He's usually much more personable and light hearted in his interviews, not just fire question after question.

Maybe I'm paranoid but reading between the lines tells me that BK would have been out the door if he had been offered the Eagles job. This could be his last year at ND.

Solid interview, no surprises. I'm not really sure how I feel about Dan Patrick these days.

Good point. He had zero interest in speaking to Kelly.

I didn't notice any disinterest, I watched the entire show this morning. His demeanor didn't seem to change when BK came on. Maybe it sounds that way if you just hear the clip. I actually like Dan, I think he's much better at his job than the ESPN guys that are on at the same time.

Thanks, I only saw the BK segment so it's nice to have some perspective.

I also like Dan's show. He's awesome.

It is kind of annoying that the A-hole Danettes are both ND fans...

Funny, I felt the exact opposite after those comments. Not saying that I think BK will be a ND coach for a long time, but I felt like he has unfinished business in college football.

Now, if ND wins the BCS this year, he gone ......

I think BK along with other CFB coaches are intrigued by the upcoming playoff system. I'm interested in how that changes the dynamics from what they are now, which is get good in college and jump to the NFL.

BK does have a lot of college playoff experience so I wouldnt be surprised if he is really digging this idea.

How many college head coaches have succeeded at both levels? To me it seems the optimum pathway is to learn the NFL from the ground up. The Harbaugh is the only recent one that comes to mind.

I don't think he was disinterested. I've watched him interview other people on the phone...because there's not a person to look at, it seems like he's disinterested. I think that's the nature of the setting. I think it was really a pretty good interview.

Dan's one of the best in the business. He doesn't hold back, but he's respectful enough that big names come on his show.

Pete Carroll isn't doing too bad either.

Didn't get a disinterested feeling or any vibe that would suggest BK wanting to leave. I did like the confidence about an eight game playoff system.

Nobody else thinks Dan Patrick is a smug douchebag? He is definitely much better at his job than most of the people that came in after him at the WWL, but something about him makes me want to smack him. Maybe its just me.

His hate for the 'Mothership' is like gold to me.

I feel that way about all radio hosts.

Well he did go to Dayton (generally makes one a dbag), but other than that he seems decent at his job

I hear you. But, I hate ESPN as an institution. Some of their people I like more than Patrick. Scott Van Pelt is one. OK, maybe there is only one.

SVP isn't bad at all but I still take DP. I've seen a lot of his shows and he doesn't come off as smug to me. He comes off as someone who is having the time of his life. I find it entertaining when he gets mad at ESPN for stealing his show's poll ideas.

What has been bothering me is the message kelly continues to put out re: Golson. No message about Golson learning from his mistake and working towards improving his decision making - instead, he's taking some time off to be a better QB. Bothersome and IMO, somewhat SEC-like.

Kelly did not say "never" to the NFL.

Kelly did not say "never" to the NFL.

I'm pretty sure he specifically said that he is learning from his mistake. To wit: "...as coaches and educators, we want our kids to take accountability and responsibility for what [they do]. And he made a mistake, and he's paying the consequences, and he's lived up to that."

He then goes on to say that "we move on from there," and Everett has decided to he wants to be a part of the ND program going forward, so he is doing X, Y and Z to stay sharp while he is away from the team. He is a coach on a sports talk program. Is he supposed to pretend that there isn't a football aspect to this? I would understand your criticism of him talking about the football part if he hadn't also said what you criticized him for not saying, but since he did it feels like you just have an ax to grind.

You are correct-I had forgotten that portion. I still feel that the message I continue to hear, at least lately, is the QB training. My ears-my thoughts.

I think Dan Patrick does an incredible interview. Not many people are better. His show is funny and smart...I don't see smug at all. I think Van Pelt and Russillo are similar, frankly.

I just so prefer their type of shows to all of the shock jock guys. Guys like Jim Rome and Ferrall are just caricatures. No real insight.

Totally agree. I said above that Patrick is great at his job. Just on a personal level, something about him rubs me the wrong way. He is still preferable to just about anyone else in the industry, though.
