Here's my take on it. If it was his girl then somebody should sit him down and tell him that most HS girls are very selfish people and are not worth holding onto. Even if she is worth keeping then over 50% of marriages end up in divorce anyway. Is that worth giving up a dream? And what kind of person tries to hold you back from your dreams? If it's his parents (dad is who i think likely as his comments always seem the most negative about ND) then somebody needs to tell him that the best way to honor your parents is to show them they raised a good man - somebody who is able to make good choices on their own. If they cannot respect your good choices then you will always be held down by them as you try to better yourself in life. And if this is the case somebody needs to have a long talk with his parents about stifling a kids motivation and personal growth by forcing him to be someplace he does not want to be when it should be his choice.

this sounds sooo flaky to me that even if he were to sign with us i think he'd be going back home before the end of his freshman year.

Both good points.

I am going to say girlfriend. They broke up after he decided ND and he has been thirsty for her ever since. (All twitter pick up, but I never tweeted at him)

So, I will go with her being the influence

I am going to say that it's very creepy when you describe his missing her as being "thirsty". Either you're not hip on your lingo, or you read really...oddly...into Elijah's tweets.

It's possible for a parent to visit and not like the school. I visited with my mom and we left the campus tour early because she didn't like it and I wasn't super interested. It's a funny accident of fate that I wound up there. My opinion completely changed as a student; don't know what I was thinking on that day.

Ha, my best friend from ND had a similar experience with respect to his mom. They visited and the whole time she was telling him how blah ND is and he should stay on the East Coast, and she was super pissed when he decided to go to ND (she did come around). So MNIrishman makes a good point ... ND isn't for everybody, not even all parents.

I visited too..... Made a bad decision and went to IU. Passed on a scholarship from Purdue as well. Bad decision on both accounts even though a came away with a good degree and great job. Wish I would have been wiser as a young man.

Seems since ND isn't know for good looking women around campus, his GF may see that as a positive. Less eye candy for temptation.

I still think it's his dad and not the GF.

I think its dad as well. He basically lied to II the other day and to me that was the tell that it's his decision and nothing else matters. Then the comment that he made about Elijah seeing something on the visit was complete BS and Eljiah told us that but said he was misunderstood. Not sure how you could misunderstand what he said.

So this is gonna sound kind of weird but the biggest knock I have against the ND campus was the lack of proper tree care I saw (I'm a certified arborist). Anyhow, it was kind of surprising. I'm sure Mr. Hood shares my love of proper tree pruning standards, hence the decision.

Like we haven't had in a long time? What is Greg Bryant then? Btw some sites had Bryant rated higher than Hood.

Don't think Bryant holds a candle to Hood as a prospect.

I compete disagree. I may be in the minority, but I think Greg Bryant is a better RB prospect, not better athlete than Hood though.

Why do you think there is such a big separation between the two when half the sites had Bryant rated higher.

I'll bet all my vbucks, baring injuries, that Bryant has a better career than Hood.

For starters, the superior size for Hood is too much to ignore. He's got a solid 2 inches and about 20 pounds on Bryant. Their speed is comparable, Hood moves incredibly well for his weight. Hood breaks tackles and is ridiculously physical, Bryant does not show that in his film anywhere.

Bryant isn't chopped liver, but I don't think he has the upside of Hood. Hood is marginally ahead of Bryant on the composite right now... but I'd imagine by the end of the year, he's a 5:s: near a 99 rating. The difference between the two is that with Hood's superior size and physicality he projects as a much better player for short yardage/red zone. He looks like he grades out at an A level for all running downs and distances. Between the 20s on 1st and 10 I don't know if there is much of a gap between the two... but for certain situations, it seems like Hood >>>>> Bryant by a huge margin. I'll be shocked if baring injury Hood isn't a 1st round pick when he goes pro... I just love everything about his game and attitude.

Why do you think Hood is a beefed prospect? When the services disagree.

He is big, like a heifer. jk

Lax said everything I was going to point out above. Hood is also ranked higher in composite, so the rankings don't actually agree with you. But that is beside the point, because I don't really care about that. I just see a slightly better player with better skills in Hood.
