"Hood was a vocal recruiter for Notre Dame on Twitter and at The Opening in July, but distance has apparently become an issue again, according to the source."

Is it me or is there a pattern forming with the player that commits and then starts the whole social media and personal "recruiting" thing with other players, then they seem to be the ones jump ship at some point in the process?

I think someone mentioned in an earlier post that these kids might be trying to convince themselves they made the right choice when they might not be 100% commited to their decision. Starting to seem like a semi-valid thought. I could be wrong, but seems like this happenes every year.

Jaylon would disagree with you. However, to add to your point, distance to ND is not an issue from Ft. Wayne.

I mean this sucks but it's a postion we are loaded at. I have no info on this but I still think he will official visit us. Elijah loves Notre Dame and always has. Somme kids need to realize they need to grow up and in 3-4 years they probably won't be living by home anyways. Good luck to Elijah he always seemed like a great kid.

Of course there are exceptions to my thought, but you can see where I'm coming from, correct?

There has only been 3 classes that had vocal leaders with the surge of using social media.
BANG BANG - Tee shepard
2013 - Jaylon Smith
2014 - Elijah Hood

Of those, only one true decommit in Hood, Tee signed, but could not perform due to medical or academic issues, but he never waivered in his commitment to ND. So I dont really agree with the statement that the "vocal recruiters" are the most likely to decommit because only one of three have actually decommitted.

Having said all that, this decommitment hurts. I have said all along that I thought Hoods highlight tape was one of the best I have ever seen. I hope ND continues to recruit him and he ends up with us on NSD.

I just read in the Charlotte Observer that his father stated that on his last visit to campus this past July something happened that he did not like and he stated that he would NOT be going to Notre Dame.

Of course, but I can also point out how much Crist recruited for us and held a class together during the worst year ever.

I just read in the Charlotte Observer that his father stated that on his last visit to campus this past July something happened that he did not like and he stated that he would NOT be going to Notre Dame.

..... what? Something Hood didn't like? Or his father didn't like? And when did he visit in July?

This is starting to become the weirdest thing with certain players claiming some cataclysmic thing happened that caused them to change their mind.

Here's the quote:
"Something happened the last time he went up there that he didn't like," Vee Hood said. "Something changed his mind immediately. He was scared to tell us. I said there's no need to be scared. It's his decision. I told him, 'You've got to be happy wherever you choose to go.' I know he's not going to be going to Notre Dame, and I guess that means he's open to (all colleges) again."

Smells like total BS to me. Parents wanted him closer to home and not at Notre Dame from the beginning. That was stated multiple times. Maybe there is something with a lady friend, maybe there isn't. But that crap about "something happening" that changed his mind does not jive with the timeline out there or his actions... from ISD:

August 5th tweet by Elijah: "Coach Kelly joins the twittervers @CoachBrianKelly"
August 3rd tweet by Elijah: "I said 1 more commit before summer ends... but I guess 2 will work or 3.... or 4.... hahah"
August 3rd retweet by Elijah: denying any interest in Miami and getting rid of rumors
August 3rd tweet: "#winning #golden army14
August 2nd twee: hahahaha #AllIrish #ALlDay @ryearginIII
July 31st tweet: tweeted at Jerry Tillery (not mentioned, went out of his way to tweet at him) letting him know the name of 2015 class is up to him.

No details in recruiting these days, not that it matters. The answer is always yes or no in the end. Feedback is always nice though.

Was it the rumors about Kelly leaving again? Always happens when a recruit is thinking about early enrolling.

Pretty sure we worked ourselves up on that one. There were never any rumors that I knew of

We got worked up on our own speculation

I've heard that something "he wasn't planning on" occured that makes him feel the need to stay close to home... If you catch my drift.

Hypothesis: the young man visits and sees Greg Bryant working out with Longo.

That would probably scare any prospective RB.

I know we're a catholic institution, but kids need to start practicing safer coitus.

This makes me feel simultaneously better and worse.
