Sources: Urban Meyer alleged Florida committed a recruiting violation - College Football News | FOX Sports on MSN

Interesting quote

Meyer's willingness to turn in a former coach — one he hired — as well as the program he led for six seasons is unheard of in college athletics. Indeed, no one Outkick the Coverage talked with could recall a former coach turning in his former program and a former assistant coach.

He reported UF for a secondary violation. Contact during a dead period, called a "bump" violation.

Holy crap, it's getting to be that everyone is the next Percy Harvin:

Samuel, who received a scholarship offer from Florida on April 17, is considered to be a Percy Harvin type.

Hopefully his old coaches start dishing on his ethics and past.

I misread the thread title, I thought this was an article where Urban Liar self reported that he recruited another murderer.

What's really interesting is that there is no detail on what the alleged violation entailed. Was it a phone call? A text? A personal visit? And how did Meyer supposedly come across this information? This really smells........... on the surface, it seems petty enough that a coach would accuse another school of such a nitpicking thing. But, if he just made something up, to try to smear a recruiting rival; that's just disgusting.

A recruiting rival and a former employer...that you kind of left high and dry with your exit.

Does anyone else think Notre Dame had soured on Urban way before Weiss and Kelly were hired? Swarbrick and others probably knew of all the baggage that comes with Urban Meyer and wanted no part of it.

I thought ND was banking on Meyer, but then had to settle for Weis. However that was just before I got into my "diehard" stage of fandom, so I wasn't up with all the details at the time.

Kevin White hired Weis not Swarbick.

Meyer was definitely choice #1 but he wanted a lot of things that we didn't want to acquiesce to and then he picked Florida. He was correct in looking at ND as a place that was hard to win at. Then we grabbed Weis, White signed him to a monster deal, and the rest is history.

Didn't Meyer wanted 6 players a year who met basic NCAA Standards academically but not necessary ND standards? I think Malloy said no to Meyer.

Holy crap, it's getting to be that everyone is the next Percy Harvin:

Unfortunately, he really does tell nearly every rb, wr/slot prospect that he has ever tried to recruit over the past 5 years that they will be the next Percy Harvin. We make the joke a lot on here but the fact is that he does tell pretty much every recruit the exact same thing, and the sad part is the most of them believe it too.

Part of me wants to applaud Meyer for holding UF accountable. There's so much cheating in the recruiting game that we need anyone willing to step up and report abuses.

On the other hand... karma's a bitch, Urbie.

TJ, on II addressed this issue with some awesome quotes. I can't post the whole thing as it is quite the diatribe, just know that it rocks his world.

I think Urban was interested at one point, but both sides couldn't agree. Urban once said that ND was his dream job. One of the clauses in his Utah contract said that he could leave without penalty if the ND job came up I think. Rumor has it that Meyer went to ol' Boob Davie and asked him if you can win at ND anymore, Boob said no, so he ultimately turned it down. Thats probably a bit of a fairy tale, but the truth probably isn't far off.

My recollection of the Urban Meyer/ND situation was that ND made a lowball offer which Florida easily beat.

Money is only money but it was probably worrisome for Meyer that ND had just fired a coach after three years and was offering him a very edible contract from the university's point of view.

Meyer may have ended up at UF regardless (this site is the first I had heard of admissions demands) but ND may have helped create the impression he was being set up for failure there.

Urban Crier figures if he discredits everyone around him associated with UF first, no way they can point the finger at him.

After all, who's gonna believe a cheater?

I think this is awesome. By making this D-Bag move, it makes other likely to report on him. Frankly, it would be great for ND if all the violators started reporting each other. And this may be the way it starts.

Who wins in a celebrity death match between Will and Urban. I say Urban because he'll have his daughters back him up!

Gonna have to go with Pops on this one. Muschamp is famous for his incandescent rage.

Urban has a heart condition and Muschamp eats hearts. So I think we can all assume this would end with Urban retiring from OSU in order to avoid the altercation.

So i'm all for it...
