I thought the staff was content staying at one running back this cycle.

Could this turn into a "not at this juncture" at this point, but if he has a break out senior year and we wind up with a scholarship left type situation? Pragmatists unite!

Whether or not he ends up Irish I hope that he gets things turned around and stays on the right track.

At this point I think the answer is no. Maybe that changes but I feel pretty confident right now saying that we aren't taking another back.

Good point, I don't see that happening but still that's a possibility.

I think if the incident hadn't happened, we would have taken his commitment. Think about it, would we have turned away Hood if Starks had committed during his April visit? Not likely. There's room for two elite RBs.

Since the incident did happen, I think the issue with admissions is much bigger than the issue of our depth chart. I don't see him being accepted to the University. If he miraculously gets accepted, the coaches will probably look at the board and make a decision 5-6 months from now.

Admissions is the bigger issue by far. If they're looking for signs of character development and academic achievement I wouldn't expect any action before the end of the semester and confirmation of progress.

Totally rooting for Starks.

Everybody deserves a second chance, especially at Notre Dame unless it's an accusation of violence etc.

Wouldn't this be a great story for ND and him if he were to thrive here?

C'mon kid. Knock your academics out of the park and earn your gold helmet!

Yes.

Still have a gut feeling this kid ends up Irish. Like him a lot.

I'm hoping too.

He could also play Safety as others have mentioned. Actually I think he could even play the Star position, which is very intriguing.

I think he's too good at RB to play defense, just my opinion. This guy's a stud.

With Hood on board, I wonder if staff saw him as an APB and slot guy? Mckenzie is likely taking his spot in that case.

From the guys at II (Prister, Sampson, TJ) it sounds highly unlikely he will end up at ND though Alford keeps contact

He looks like he'd be a dynamite nickel indeed.

ND is done at RB. Starks hurt himself a great deal. Will some school take a chance on him? Sure, but it wont be ND. ND is fine with where they are at RB.

Glad to see this. I hear what TP is saying, but no reason to close the door. Also, if we are going to approach 24-25 this cycle, no reason why we shouldn't take 2 RBs. Just my opinion, but would love to get this kid assuming he has his head on straight.

OU leads

He talked about each of his Top 3 and absolutely raved up Notre Dame.

He's a take for OU but not for ND or USC (that's not the article but I believe it to be true). Quite a shame, pretty sure he'd be Irish if he could, OU is gonna get Starks and Tee Shepard and those two will probably be their two biggest signings

He is just toxic right now. In the article he did not say he was being recruited by ND. There are plenty of reasons to not take Starks or another rb. Its a numbers game and ND is winning that right now at RB. No reason to pull away from strategy

Wiltfong also mentioned that Starks was at one time close to committing to ND, interesting thought, if Starks would have committed in April, what would have happened after he got kicked out of Gorman?

I agree, and Wiltfong basically confirmed that he's not a take for us in a separate post.

The article was interesting. He called OU his leader (granted he was talking to an OU reporter), but when asked about ND it really seemed like ND is his favorite school. So how do you explain that? My guess is that he knows he's not a take for ND, so he can't call us his leader.

He's staying in touch with Alford. He's not a take right now, but Wiltfong says we aren't staying in touch just for the hell of it. There's apparently at least some chance that Starks will become a take again.
