When I flew into Shannon back in '89, the flight attendant asked if wanted coffee along with my warm, damp "wake up" towel. I said "yes" and asked for a Jameson to go with it. She smiled and happily brought me my Irish Coffee. My trip was off to a good start ...

Here's a highlight video of Smith's rookie season:

And just for the lols:

Oh, I'm watching...and I will eat the plate of crow.

Still don't think he's all that great. There is something to be said about "freaks" at the combine that didn't really mirror that in production. There are "freaks" every year at the combine. That don't do squat in the NFL.

Harrison was a decent safety. I'll leave it at that. Thought he got a little too much cred for a guy that doesn't force any turnovers and isn't all that strong in coverage. (is very rigid)

But of course, explaining that to fellow ND fans is impossible.

Harrison was so amazing for my Vikings. He's one of the best safeties already in the NFC.

My favorite player both his junior and senior years. Even with SuperMike Floyd, though that was close.

It is pretty funny looking back on some comments made about Harrison pre-draft. Really happy for his success so far. Being from Minnesota a lot of friends and family are die hard fans and they are extremely impressed with him so far.

Harrison Smith evolving into a 1st round draft pick was when I realized Brian Kelly really gets it on how to maximize player development and put them in the best situation to succeed.

Always gonna be a fan of his. Loved his int against the Condoms back in 2010. He also had a pretty nice pick in the Sun Bowl.

Couldn't agree more. He is great example. I know personally whenever I start to question bringing in a certain recruit I need to remember that Kellys had his success because of player development.

I still doubt his abilities. Ran a 4.38 is HS, and a 4.5 at the combine. He has no future in the NFL.

I named my son, Harrison, for redemption.

And I have him on my fantasty football team.

I'm doing everything I can to get back in his good graces...LOL

Advanced Football Analytics just published a bunch of charts ranking the best NFL players by position according to Win Probability Added (WPA) v. Expected Points Added (EPA).

Check out to the chart for Safety. Looks like Harry might have been the best in the league last season.

Yet, no All-Pro or Pro Bowl nod...

This fan voting crap has got to go. It's essentially a popularity contest.

Lot of love for Golden there, too. Some for Riddick and Gray which was nice to see.

and yet, I don't see that he made the Pro Bowl. I don't even see him listed as a sub for Tyrann Mathieu.

Didn't make All Pro either despite being PFF's #1 rated Safety....so lame.

He needs a big game Sunday to get people to notice him.
