Sampson reporting the same thing as 247, staff is expecting a commitment here soon. Maybe not before he leaves but over the next couple of days. They see him as bigger more athletic version of TJ, won't blow you away but good at everything and good right now (which I think is really important).

Posted earlier that this kid reminds me so much of Amari Cooper at Bama. About the same size, speed, etc. Not the fastest guy on the field but seems to do everything correctly. Hope ND locks a commitment down on him soon.

No laughing matter. We lost Vanderdoes due to his tampering, and it looks like he's continuing to target our recruits. I wonder if he has some dirt on Kelly.

Don't worry, I'm sure the NCAA is going to do a thorough investigation and provide us their findings in the next decade or so.

Mora is classless. Even if Corey commits, Mora will keep rubbing his back telling him how much he loves him until he steps foot on campus.

If we have another Vanderdoesn't situation come up with UCLA again, you can bet Jack & Brian will be in Indy demanding an investigation into Mora.

I wasn't laughing that UCLA is not a threat. they are a huge threat.

I was laughing because I think Jim Mora Jr. is a cheating dick.

And somebody ought to be telling these kids he'll probably be back in the NFL by the time they're juniors. If he's not, it's because they're losing games.

Holmes route running is one of the best in the class. Hes just a smooth smooth kid out there. Like someone said, hes not the biggest, fastest kid out there, but all he does is move the chains.

ISD says he loved the visit/camp, didn't commit though. He'll likely have a decision next month.

Moving chains and route running is great, but if that's all he can do he doesn't sound like much of a football prospect. I mean, I don't know much about football but I kinda think the receivers should catch a football then run with it. If they want to move chains or play GPS delivery games, they should do that in their free time. Not my thing, but kids these days are into wacky stuff.

Yeah that Hines Ward guy wasn't that great.

He was told he is the #1 WR target right now, which he has heard before but he liked hearing from the entire staff.

He fits in with the IrishMob and the GoldenArmy.

He was impressed by the academic presentation.

Wasn't pressured to commit and he has changed his plans to making a decision within a few weeks (after the opening and a few unofficials). He is likely ND

Over Malachi?

I like the kid, but is he sure about that?

#1 at the position is what it said. What position do you consider him? Malachi? It's possible that they are different positions, which makes more sense for naming Holmes #1 but I'm not sure that Holmes is considered a slot WR. Do you know?

I've heard otherwise. Vanderdoes allegedly would have reported to ND if not for Mora's tampering.

I understand what you're saying. My point is that I'm sure he wasn't the first ND signed commit to be "tampered" with, nor will he be the last. Most kids just have their head on straight so they don't buy into the BS. I have no doubt that Mora was dirty here. I guess it's more of a "chicken or the egg" argument than anything else here.

I would consider them both perimeter players hence my confusion. Maybe the staff has a very specific role (or position) for Holmes to play? Or maybe they just really, really, really like Holmes and think he is TERRIBLY underrated? No idea.

One possibility, without differentiating between an X, Y and Z receiver, is the staff has three WR spots available and the top 3 guys on their board are all considered #1 targets/#1 at position because all three fit the spots available.

For example, do you think they told Quentin Nelson he was the #1 target at OT and Bars he was the #2 target, or vice versa? Probably not. They were probably both #1 targets/#1 at the position because we were taking two tackles and those were the two guys we were recruiting the hardest (after KC picked Miami).

So, #1 targets at WR are Holmes, Dupre and ????, in no particular order.

I don't know. Just throwing that possible explanation out there.

Despite frustrating everything I know about the number 1 this makes some sense to me.

He is part of the #1 unit they hope to bring in at the position?

This, right? "We want to bring in an X, a Y and a Z this year and you're our top X."
I mean, it's not like they've given up on Lazard, Malone, Dupre, etc.
