I just went back and read through this entire thread. I wouldn't count out a possible commitment here. We have been on him for a REALLY long time with consistent, near daily communication, including a ton of personal visits to his school. He has already been on campus before. He's best buds with Rochelle, he has been doing the Longo workout regimen with Isaac, and now he is bringing his parents with him to see campus.

What else would he be waiting for?

Just saying that a commitment would not be shocking to me at all.

I actually called him as the next Irish commitment before Kizer committed last week. My only hesitation is that it appears he is really warming to Auburn. I would not be shocked either way if he did pull the trigger on this current trip. He feels a need for you guys and I think he is a real baller. Good luck and hopefully some good news for you guys soon.

Certainly wouldn't be shocking, but he seems to be enjoying the recruiting process and has given no indication that he's looking for it to be over. Also, I'm sure the staff has told him that his spot will be available til the end, so I doubt there's any pressure from inside the program. Then again, dahell do I know...?

Well its not a feel-good reason. Who knows. Maybe his expected travel fell through and it is easier for him to get to one of those others. Maybe he's seen ND several times and had an opportunity travel somewhere else on the spur of a moment. Long way to go with this kid.

Even if he does commit somewhere before NSD, that school will have to be looking over their shoulder the whole time. I think he just enjoys the recruitment process too much to trust a commitment from him that isn't in the form of an LOI

TJ's take, isn't coming because one or both parents weren't able to make it. It was important to him that both parents come so they are trying to reschedule. Take that however you want in terms of "reading tea leaves". The staff wasn't expecting a commitment this weekend but would have welcomed one. They've also always thought there was going to be serious competition from regional SEC/ACC schools. They are trying to re-schedule for a couple days later in the summer.

Two points I've wanted to make for awhile but I know they won't be popular and will rub a lot of people the wrong way... but eff it:
1. I don't know if I've ever seen a more overrated prospect by the Irish fan base than Andrew Williams. And I don't really get why. The early interest? Rochelle connection? Not talking specifically about this board either, I see it on every single board I read. Lots of people saying "he is my #1 want" or that he would be THE guy in this class... come on people. There is nothing in his film or camp performances or anything else to suggest that he is a mega prospect. He has tons of offers from some really good schools because with his frame and overall athleticism he can play both OLB/DE and that makes him valuable and a fit for basically every program. There is a reason that basically every service has him rated as a low 4 and that is because for an edge rusher there is absolutely zero "wow" to his game. Doesn't have a dynamic first step, isn't freakishly fast, isn't freakishly athletic... he isn't half the prospect of an Ishaq Williams and not the quarter of a prospect of a Jaylon Smith. He's not even a Darius Fleming. So can we cool it with the "how important" this guy is to the class? He's just not. I think there are only 2... maybe 3 tops... current commits that I would trade for Andrew Williams right now. He's simply a low 4 OLB prospect; nothing more and nothing less.

2. The fact that he is so strongly looking at schools like Ole Miss, FSU, Auburn... that's a gigantic red flag. He's made multiple visits to each. I'm not sure if there are any three schools more different than Notre Dame.

With that being said, I still think we've probably got a 40-60% chance we land him and he'd be a great addition. But he's never been close to a ND lock, doesn't necessarily have the "ND" type mindset many assume he does, and isn't an instant impact difference maker nor a must get.
