I totally agree on the first part. I don't understand why Q would mess with what worked in the last couple games against LA, remembering to use the Hawks strengths instead of playing to their opponent's strengths. The Hawks are not a team that goes out and lights up the boards, checking guys left and right. They're a team that can hit, to be sure, but they need to play within their game. The Lucic goal shouldn't have happened if Hammer goes for the puck and not the goal. If the Hawks focus on maximizing their own strengths, they should play much better on defense especially.
Quenneville needs to stop psyching himself out with line changes, and get over whatever his deal is with Stalberg; even if the guy isn't consistent he's dynamic and fast, something that can only help the Hawks in the offensive zone.
I don't understand the power play. Jamie Kompon, hired away from LA, has absolutely murdered that unit. They can't get into the offensive zone when the other team stacks the blue line, and they pass the puck around without any clear direction or strategy. How can you have a 5-3 WITH NO SHOTS ON GOAL?!
That said, I'm proud of the way the guys played. Shaw has become one of my favorite players with his willingness to do almost anything and his sneaky offensive ability. My hope is that Bolland finally had his breakout game, as he could go a long way to helping get 19 back on track .
