Good luck to him but I just don't get these kids committing with visits a week away already set.

He is Kentucky's 4th Safety commit in this class. They likely put the pressure on him and said his spot may not be available after he makes his other visits. Whatever. I was never really a fan and not broken up about it.

For some reason I seem to be the only one interested in Kyle Gibson (check his thread I'm almost talking to myself in there haha). Kid is much better IMO and probably the staffs as we offered months ago. We need to get into Armwood.

Its that good of a class so far? IMO i dont see them finishing near that high, i think as the process plays out theyll lose a few and miss out on some down the stretch. I cant see why anyone would want to play football for "BBN" with their pathetic football fanbase. Not a fan of UK but none of their fans i know care about football the least bit, theres just no support for that program. They only care about basketball. On top of that it will be hard to pull a great class if they get throttled by most the SEC teams this year, but we'll just have to wait and see.

I'm a big UK fan. We had 55,000 at our spring game. Only Bama and I think A&M had that many.

FWIW Kentucky has 50,000+ in attendance for their spring game this year. Stoops and Co. have changed/are changing the culture there. Stoops brings the D and Neal Brown runs the high powered, very fast O. Loads of early PT available and in the SEC. They are driving it home. They may lose a lot this year but the coaches are probably saying they need these guys to come in and change that. Who knows what recruits will stick if they do lose, recruiting is obviously a crazy beast.

That really really surprises me haha. I understand hes trying to rebuild the program and get it going but just from personal experience pretty much none of the UK fans i know even watched them during football season haha. What type of crowds there on gameday and is it a good atmosphere there? I know they go nuts during basketball

This site: CFB Avg Attendance says just under 50,000 in 2012 which was down 17% from 2011

When we were good with Andre Woodson and Stevie Johnson it was a electric atmosphere. I was there when UK beat #1 LSU. It was the craziest thing I've ever seen.

Kentucky just passed us on the 247 team rankings with West's commitment. They are now #5 and we are #6. However, West is their 3rd highest rated recruit and would have been our 8th best (9th if you consider Brent is about to get a huge bump).

For some reason I seem to be the only one interested in Kyle Gibson (check his thread I'm almost talking to myself in there haha). Kid is much better IMO and probably the staffs as we offered months ago. We need to get into Armwood.

Agreed. For a recruit we seem to be great position for, there has been very little talk about him.

According to star69/ndfister one of the main reasons he committed was because Kentucky fans and commits tweet the most, all the staff did was "close the door"

Agree. Not to mention we only probably want 3 DBs or so and have a LOT of much better prospects on the board than West. Although he did intrigue me in a sort of run-stopping CB sort of role in the nickel.

Good luck to him but I just don't get these kids committing with visits a week away already set.

Isn't that what we want from Kizer? I agree it's a little silly but you have to imagine that coaches are turning up the heat specifically because they don't want kids taking certain visits. The giant moral of the story is DO NOT GET INTO RACES LATE. Do the Alabama and just "offer" everyone. In this case, I really don't think it's a big loss though. 11.1 is freaking slow for a CB... he'd have to be a situational nickel player at best. Or safety, and he wasn't being recruited there.

this will all play out. Kentucky will get streamrolled on the field this year and their class will suffer. Bama and co. will pick them apart.

First time i've heard that ND has shown interest in this young man. My alma mater had a 7 on 7 scrimmage with him over the summer and i've been able to watch him in action live a few times. Also, an aggressive basketball player that shows great leaping ability and the toughness to defend in the low post. Very explosive athlete that plays corner for his high school. Team plays in small school league and he totally shuts down his half of the field when playing. Pretty physical corner too that would fit in well in our Cover 2 scheme.Would probably benefit from playing against highler level competition, but so far hasn't hurt his offer list. Performed well at camps last summer. Talked to his high school coach who stated that urban told him last summer that he was ranked the #5 corner on their board for the class of 2014, although he has not yet earned an offer and that was a 7 good months ago. Rumblings that if Urban were to offer this would be a done deal. Pretty impressive early offer list and he has been to a few winter showcases although he plays for his high school's state ranked basketball team. Not sure how legit our chances are here, but scout had a story on him so i thought i'd make a profile. i'll do my best to keep the scoop.

Sorry bout the long spleel.

Who's your Alma Mater rtrn2glory, I actually went to LCC. Don't tell me your a Shawnee brat, you guys were never good in football, ha.

Who commits to another school with a visit to Notre Dame a week away? So much for my prediction on West committing to the Irish. Stoops is putting together a pretty nice class so far at Kentucky. smh

I don't follow KY football, but I've got a number of friends from work who do and they are consistently admitting to me that a 2 win season this year would be like going to a BCS game. KY is that bad, I can appreciate players wanting to be apart of the program that brings it back to their glory days, but when fans are hoping for a good season with 2 wins, and comparing that to a BCS birth, I can't be too upset for not getting any player that commits to KY, no matter how good they are. Do we really want someone on our team that looks at a football team like Kentuckys, and say; "Yeah, I want to be apart of history next season, and win 3 football games". I joke of course, and I'm sure this kid coming from Lima, OH and going to a small catholic school like LCC he probably jumped on an early offer. LCC is a good football team, their HC has really turned the team around since old Chuck was the coach for 15+years, but they face average to above average talent. Don't see a lot of exceptional competition in the Lima area, Lima Senior use to be a powerhouse but they've been flat the last 5-10 years.

This screams decommitment, especially if he balls all this year. Not bc he didn't choose ND, but because it feels so rushed. When players are rushed into committing, even when they rush themselves into it, that is when you see regrets later in the down the road.

At the very least, you'll hear about West wanting to take OV's when all his buddies start taking them. We've seen at happen to us when commits rush their verbal, and we've seen happen a ton at other schools. This one isn't over, although I don't see him at ND either...

I just read the last twenty posts or so. This kid never was going to ND. Last time he had a visit scheduled he had what, car trouble? Hell I would probably take a bus from Lima to SB anyway.

This kid is great and all, but a safety or corner, isn't a great need for this class. And any kid coming in has to see the situation at ND. ND has almost enough safteties to field a "whole team!" LoL! And at corner? A freshman All-American and a Junior starter that may be a team captain. Backed up by guys that can play; what are we, four deep?

I just believe there is a "certainty of purpose" that shows a players had. When you don't see it, you don't get them. Also, there is an axiom, if he is worth it he is going to want to play. If you have a real baller, and you can't show him a way to the field, he isn't going to come. It doesn't matter what else you have. And trust me, since we (American society in general) don't teach being part of a team, at all anymore, these guys aren't going to listen to sit and wait your turn, even if you have the best college experience ever, (ND does, for most.)

PS. Don't forget to discuss the tobacco cash.

I have a feeling Stoops will do more than put together one nice class at Kentucky. The question is whether he can maintain it over the next few years. Joker Phillips and Rich Brooks had some nice individual talent but could never field a complete team. I think Stoops could put together a complete team. He needs to keep the in-state talent from leaving or going to Louisville and also get the kids from the surrounding areas. Spurrier has done this at So. Car. and they have gone from a sub par team to a consistent Top 25 team.

Psssst. Kentucky was corp home to many tobacco rollers. And U of K did much of the goofy science that allowed big tobacco to hold off the surgeon general's reports for years. Check and see who paid for Rupp arena. Oh that is right, you are too young to even remember West Texas (by god) bitch slapping Adolph. LOL!

Being born in Kentucky I am well versed in the UK lore as well as its denizen bootleggers, homegrowers, and horse farmers. Also I saw the movie too. Same thing. LOL.

I agree Stoops will do better than Joker for sure. PaPa Brooks had them going 8-5 7-4 for 3-4 years with some bowl games thrown in. Realistically I think they are a four win team this season. Year two maybe bowl eligible. Year three is when I think we see the Stoops legacy really created - either good or bad. I wish them well.
