This is a young man that our coaches have seen fit to offer a scholarship to play football for the University of Notre Dame. All the comments about his appearance are unnecessary and irrelevant. He is the number 1 rated kicker in the country. We tend to overlook the importance of field position and the kicker/punter's role in shortening the field for our offense and lengthening the field for our defense. With Brindza's tenure limited it is vital that we have a stable of dependable kickers/punters ready to step in when he leaves. Can we get some information on his punting, field goal percentage, or kick-off distance and get away from the comments about his appearance?

He probably saw what we were saying on here and is mad at us. We need to learn to behave ourselves.

He kicks at 5000 feet; it will be interesting to see what he does at sea level.

He must have kicked well enough in T Town since Bama offered. And last time I checked the only thing at 5000 feet in T Town is Nick Saban's ego. RTR

Thought experiment... if you were a specialist, knowing how few K/P make it in the NFL, and how little money you make even if you do, would you choose:

A) Alabama to go win some rings
B) A school like Duke to go get an elite degree knowing your football team will never amount to anything

But if you make it, you can kick for about thirty years. Plus think of all the money you save on face mask bars.

I would go somewhere that offered a four year scholarship and get a good degree. Miss a few field goals in big games and see if Saban keeps you around, let alone get hurt and cut.

If you are good enough to be ranked that high in high school why not go to a program that offers both if you have the grades? There are plenty of schools that fall in that category. Stanford, ND, Michigan, are just the first three that comes to mind.

Good question. If you are able to make it to the NFL, you may not make a great yearly salary(in comparison), but you will play a lot longer than the typical NFL player. It also seems like once yoiu are in the league you will be recycled from team to team if you are ever cut/released.

By all accounts this particular kid is top level. In his case I may roll the dice in hope of making it to the NFL.

In most instances I would say get the Duke education though.

Duke may be a good call b/c you will punt the ball more than just about any team in the country.

C) Notre Dame so I could do it all.

I guess it really comes down to how good you are. I'd say Duke to have your fallback, plus you know they aren't scoring many td's. Field Goals baby!!
