If it's that simple, why do they keep stats for the other games?
So in September Denard Robinson could actually feel like a legitimate Heisman candidate.

I don't think you understand me. I was trying to make the point that in his sophomore year his stats in his losses were nowhere near as good as in his wins. So it wasn't like it was a breakdown somewhere else in the game. And it wasn't anyone else. So yes you do need stats for all of his game.
The problem with Tommy is if he is your number one guy, teams with really good, athletic defenses can plan for you drop more into coverage, disguise blitzes, and bust his ability to get the ball out. Don't you remember how a mediocre Wake Forest team almost beat ND by disguising coverages against ND? Tommy had no idea.
Are you saying Tommy does not read defenses as well as we are lead to believe?

I am saying two years ago teams disguised their coverages and just sat back to pick off his passes. They rushed three, and blitzed a fourth to hurry them, and then he threw a bunch of fabulous picks. Further, he played very well against slower teams, the good teams hurt him. Literally. I felt so bad for him against SC for example ('11). I thought they were going to kill him.
Somebody has to start as No. 1 on the depth chart heading into offseason conditioning, so this headline shouldn’t surprise people, nor should the timing. That said, expect Kelly to prepare all three arms with a package that could help the Irish win. For Rees, that’s a veteran signal caller that’s got a mastery of the offense. For Hendrix, it’s hopefully taking advantage of his size and power. An with Zaire, the Irish have a dangerous option trigger man who is also impressing both Kelly and offensive coordinator Chuck Martin with his grasp of the offense.
Kelly saying "[instead of Golson] what he's got is Rees," is a long way from naming Tommy a starter. This miscommunication is on the Grand Rapids reporter. As most of us know, when Kelly wants something said, he says it! LOL.
For me, I have changed my opinion. I want to see ND have a package for each quarterback, with Tommy being the glue that keeps it all together. Take that for you dastardly villains trying to game-plan against ND!
Tommy should be named the starter. He's earned it. But I also hope this has a dual purpose in lighting a fire under Hendrix (and Zaire) to try and push for that spot as hard as possible.
So it all makes sense now. After Tommy found phone records of calls made to SB police on May 2, 2012, from Golson's cell phone, Tommy planted essays from college-paper.org in Golson's desk.
Checkmate Everett. Checkmate.
(The only missing piece of the puzzle is whether any of Carlo's people were involved. But no one knows anything and no one is talking.)
I would rather be really good at one thing than ok at 3. I am not saying that doesn't mean one of the others aren't going to get playing time.
I just would rather practice be focused around named starter. give him the majority of the reps instead of a dead 1//3 1/3 1/3 split in practice.
Just got an update from my ESPN CFB app. Says Kelly has in fact named Tommy the starter. Notre Dame football: Brian Kelly names Tommy Rees starting quarterback - chicagotribune.com
It's so intense! I don't know how he could call it so early. I mean, Andrew has been in the system, you'd like to think that the kid would progress and make it a competition. He also has the mobility Kelly craves. It just makes no sense that it's over. Clarity, we need some.
Exactly. ND has a new starting RB (to be determined), new starting receivers at WR AND TE ( to be determined), and a new OLine starters to integrate.
Everbody needs to be on the same page in the same play book not 3 different pages in 3 different books from the moment the play is called. And the moment the DE shifts a step inside, and the Safety moves into the box, they need to make their reads AS A TEAM, not 3 different ways.
Does Bryant now pick up the Blitzer for Tommy, lead Hendrix through the hole brushing, the LB aside, or become the primary fake so Zaire can free lance?
Three different packages tailored to 3 skillsets multiplied exponentially by variable WRs, TEs, RBs, and OLs, don't lend themselves to a cohesive team read and execution.
It's time to reduce the personnel to the core group, get them to working as a unit, and not as a pick up basketball game. When they think and act cohesively, the team can function seamlessly with a different QB, a different RB, a different LG.
IF someone further down on the depth chart displays superior performance be it C, RB, TE, OL, WR, or QB, Kelly and Company will take notice. IF that individual raises the level of TEAM play, they'll get PT.
It's not the best 11 athletes that make the best team. It the 11 that best execute together.
It's time that decision is made so it can be scrutinized in the crucible and tweaked as necessary to hone a seamless offense.
Time for some of you to get a little realistic.
Tommy's last four starts or nearly complete games---
Against Stanford 2011---tommy went--6 for 13 for 60 yards 0 TD 1 INT & he was lifted
Against FSU-----2011--tommy went--16 for 27 for 160 yards--1 TD 2 Ints & he was lifted
Against Michigan 2012--tommy went 8 for 11 for 115 yards--0 TD--0 INT---We needed 6 turnovers to squeeze out a win.
Against BYU 2012---tommy went 7 for 16 for 117 yards--1 TD--1 INT---we needed an overtime & a superior defensive effort to squeeze out a win.
So in the last four games with big playing time, Tommy has gone in total--
37 for 67 for 452 yards 2 TDs and 4 INTs that's a QB rating of TOTAL CRAP!
Remember against TULSA in 2010 in tommy's first outing he went 33-54 for 337 yards 4 Tds and 3 INTs
Against Michigan in 2011 tommy's first START in 2011---tommy went 27 for 39 for 330 yards 3 Tds and 2 INTs'
Tommy Rees is an unusual case of regression---
Tommy played better in his first 6 games then he has in his last four by a wide margin.
Ever since the PITT game (2011) teams have figured Rees out---and those who expect that to change because he is a year older or because we have a good defense are living in FANTASYLAND IMHO!
We just cannot do much better then 8-5 with tommy going wire to wire. I think coach will do something to mix things up before we get into those first few games---if its going to be sink or swim with tommy then remember to bring a life preserver!!
