This went from a 3 horse race to the school no one thought he was going to pick landing him before he takes visits to 2 of his top 3.

Unreal.

I'd guess Sumlin used some combination of negative recruiting (against us) and pressure to get Allen to commit so early. Are we assuming he won't visit now? If my assumption is right, odds aren't good.

I will bet we wont get Andrews either now

like him, but i'm not too bummed over this one if that turns out to be the case.

I like luatua at TE...if we swing and miss on him than i'll be bummed we didn't get andrews

Only silver lining in this is that it really shows how tapped in Steve Wiltfong is. Literally was the only one that picked A&M and then the entire board flipped to follow him.

The ex-Scout Irish guy gives a TON of ND information, and in my book, that info just got boosted up in the credibility category, even though I already considered him one of the best in the business. #1 in my book now.

this can only help A&M's chances with Andrews though if they are actively after him

We're projected to only have one f*cking QB on scholarship in 2014. aTm has at least 4, including a Heisman-winner behind whom Allen will have to sit for 1-3 years.

Hatred.

we'll find out how interested the staff is in Dawkins now I would think. if they still want him you would think this would make his offer a commitable one.

or do they go and offer kizer....should be an interesting couple of weeks.

Jason Sapp, Christian McCollum and Gerry Hamilton at times have all been up there in my eyes, for different reasons obviously.

I always thought Jason got some info from Wiltfong even if he didn't say so but def was one of the best in the business. Hamilton has never stood above Barton Simmons or any other national guys on Rivals or 247 for me. I assume Christian is the guy from ISD, I feel like he or his sources are wrong a lot from what u guys share.

#1 Wiltfong #2 Sampson #3 Sapp #4 Everyone else for me

Very disappointing. Too early in the cycle to get too bummed though, imo.

Sampson is pretty tapped in.

I never personally had a Rivals subscription, so I wouldn't know. Seems like II does get a lot of solid info, but I always wondered what the ratio of was of quality and quantity of info from Pete, Tim, Jake, etc and TJ.

I would normally take solace in your comment but we have just not had any good news since January. We are going to have to start landing and keeping some of these QBs. If not then it'll be all wildcat all the time.

Yeah, and I don't want to minimize the miss. Allen is a top-rated QB and guys like that don't grow on trees. But it's a long way till signing day, so I'm trying to stay optimistic.

Sampson was the first person to publically confirm there was bad Golson news coming. He's got some strong predictions for June so we will so how that pans out

II was also the first ND site to give credence to the EV rumors (it was everywhere and always deleted) by responding, bringing things to a head and starting that crazy scramble for info from all the sites to keep up.

Have no idea if it ultimately had any effect on EV and the situation, and I am sure they probably were just getting tired of deleting the rumors and just wanted to put them in place once and for all and it blew up, but I can't help wondering if things could have been different if there was silence on the matter until reporting date.

EV was probably not coming either way, but a 'what-if' I will always wonder is if things could have been different if EV's camp and ND had another month of media / fan / etc ignorance to try and sort things out.

Plus, Hood, Nelson and Bars were great adds too. Allen is a painful miss, especially with Andrews being a real long shot now, but we have had some good things happen that we need to remind ourselves.

TJ is arguably the most in touch with the program. He has got to be in the inner circle with the knowledge he has. Posters specifically pose questions to TJ/Staff.

I like II currently because they seem to have that inside connection that Sapp brought to 247 in TJ and Sampson. You can't replace an ex-player very easily, but Loy has done a good job so far IMO.

To me, II seems to reach a bit more to bring next minute stuff. BGI is more conservative, but they are usually spot on.... consequently it seems they get scooped more often than not.

I come to IE for the personalities :smilewink

Really curious to see if we still get a visit at some point from Allen. I find it hard to believe we won't.
