'10 IL QB Tommy Rees (Notre Dame Man)

Here is why the Michigan defense looked so good: Greg Mattison. He is known for blitzing, and using the kitchen sink from the strong side, just to get in the face of the opposing quarterback. With the numbers he masses, there will be two through gaps on a given play. All you need is one. That is why Tommy went in and stayed in. Everett doesn't help you if he is dead.

AND THAT IS THE REASON I THINK TOMMY HAS REDEEMED HIMSELF. HE EXHIBITED A MENTAL TOUGHNESS and a WHEREWITHALL that was uncommon among young whippersnappers. Nobody was going to do great. Unless you had the unbending line of Alabama. Nobody got hurt, either. And Tommy did all that was asked of him, once again.

Raibh míle maith agaibh agus míle beannacht ort, Tommy!

He does have a thick skin.

By the way, thanks Tommy for two victory making drives under intense pressure. You looked like a young Joe Montana coming off the bench, taking charge, and leading your teammates on to victory.

Haha it's so awesome that this was just started. Last night I watched Mighty Ducks D2 (don't ask me why because I don't know) and there is the scene near the end where Charlie Conway steps aside to allow Adam Banks to play. Charlie acknowledges that he "would make a better coach than a player." I immediately thought about Rees. He definitely understands offenses and I think he would be a valuable addition to a football staff down the road. I would not be surprised at all if he ends up as a coach somewhere.

I thought during camp he mentioned it was something he wanted to do after football.

He will be a great coach one day. If he chooses to start that path after graduation, I sincerely hope BK and Co. add him to the fold.

Happy Birthday Tommy, take it easy but enjoy yourself. We need your leadership if we are going to make another run at that trophy.

Always liked you, Tommy. Even while everyone else seemed to be loading you up with crap. Hard to over-rate the great service that you did for us by taking the helm of a rudderless ship, and allowing us to play competitive football immediately. You're going to be an unsung hero of the Kelly era, who got us started well enough to build this giant he is creating now.

Bless you, Tommy --- have a great year.

He seems older doesn't he?! Glad he's at Notre Dame, agree with OMM above.

And I thought he looked good in the spring game. Definitely understands the offense.
