To be fair, 247 does more frequent updates than any of the other recruiting sites. In addition, they do most of their work at the big events in the summer circuits. They basically have a rep at every 7v7 tournament, camps, and major events like the Opening. So look for their network to update those quite a bit.

Anyways, according to TJ on II, he said a plausible commitment order (not necessarily to ND) if he had to guess would be:

RB: Michel, Hood, Starks (Any could go the distance though)
OL: Nelson, Bars, Smith

Only one line about Sony and that is that he will make his announcement Friday from his top five and he honestly has no idea what Sony is thinking, he keeps it to himself.

Wouldn't advise googling that name without adding some context. football, rivals, 247, or something.

By my count we have 83 guys on scholarship for next year assuming no transfers. Of those 83, 20 of them either run out of eligibility, more than likely will not be asked back for a fifth year, or will leave for the NFL with eligibility remaining. That puts us at 63 in 2014, so we have 22 spots open for this class correct? Or did I miscount/miss someone?

In light of the recent transfers and the hullabaloo about Yeargin, Booker, Morgan, etc. at the LB position, how many LBs are we taking?

By my count we only lose 3: Shembo, Calabrese, and Fox.

Spond has used all four years after this year too. Moore might not be back either so atleast 4 maybe 5.

I don't think they'll recruit a DOG LB specifically, but sounds like they want a CAT and maybe 2-3 ILBs....that's my guess.

Between our freshman, sophomores and juniors, we have 60 on scholarship currently. That means the magic number (2014 recruits + 5Ys) is 25.

Trying to estimate returning 5Ys is always difficult. Seniors with remaining eligibility include: Hendrix, Massa, Welch, Heggie, Lombard, Utupo, Nix, Moore, Wood and Collinsworth. My initial guess would be that we'll bring back 3 from that group, but we always end up taking more than expected. I'll say five 5Ys, which would leave 20 spots for incoming freshman.

I hadn't really thought of it that way, but we're losing 3 of our 4 starting LBs from 2012, plus a veteran substitute. I hope Grace, Councell, Smith, Ishaq and Okwara get plenty of reps in 2013.

That's a funny group of 5Ys. Only Lombard at this point would be for sure - plus Nix if he wants it. Several others are certainly possible, but I'd think we'll have a lot of February decisions. Five seems like a reasonable guess.
Note we could also lose Tuitt, though I've learned by now not to bet on early departures under the Kelly regime.

Concerning Tuitt. I think his mom will make him finish school. I guess we will have a better sense of it all at the end of the season like you pointed out.

Personally, I doubt Tuitt's mom makes him finish school if he ends up being graded as highly as I expect. Getting a degree is one thing, but the signing bonus is another. Heck, a surprising number of high-profile athletes made sure to finish their degrees after going pro.

Hendrix and Utopo intrigue me because there's no guarantee we lock down a QB this cycle, and Utopo seems to finally be playing a position that allows him to show his natural talents. I remember seeing him as a 250 lb DT on one site and thinking that was insane, but he looked good on the line in those practice videos.

Thanks WJack-off the top of my head, I can see Utupo, Lombard as good bets to return. Based on a variety of factors such as injuries, depth, transfers(!)-and oh yeah, if they get into grad school: maybe Collingsworth, Hendrix, Wood, Moore.
