This is what happens when you let Delany name things. (Only half kidding)

On a more serious note, SEO is becoming increasingly important. Probably played a large role in the selection of this otherwise boring name.

And before we criticize, remember that we don't know how bad the alternatives were:

Dull name but off of the top of my head I have nothing better.

How is this 14-20 person selection committee going to be chosen? Will ND have representation there?

I say it is called:

Lets take 8 weeks off so ESPN can over talk and analyze the games so it isn't even exciting when it happens playoffs.*

*-if OSU doesn't make it, we will shove Urban down your throat, and if ND does make it we will have a ESPN MarKMay channel to point out negatives of ND.

Yes, long name but that is an appropriate one.

At least they didn't ask the BIG... The name would have been the "College Football Final Five"

As far as the committee: there's 14-20 spots and each of the 10 FBS conferences is guaranteed at least one representative per ESPN... so there's 4 to 10 "at large" spots remaining. If we aren't guaranteed one, we're getting ripped off.

There's even a justification, besides the fact that our AD technically has equal voting power with each conference commissioner: ND cleared a little over 43 million in profit in 2010. The 53 schools in non-BCS conferences at that time? 26 million between them.

In addition to our financial power, everyone involved has a conflict of interest- your conference gets someone in, they get more money. So if everyone else can vote themselves money...

I shouldnt get excited though. I'll probably just prepare myself for the debates on ESPN and the articles about why we shouldn't get a seat at that table though...

I picked #2 because it's pretty simple and not some greyed out crap.

The six bowls in the playoff rotation are Chick-Fil-A, Fiesta, Cotton, Rose, Orange, and Sugar

Really? Looking at the main site the OP dropped it only shows the Rose, Orange and Sugar being involved... at least for the first two years... maybe i misread/misundertood it

Those are the ones that have conference tie ins on years where they don't host the semifinal. The Fiesta, Cotton, and Chick-Fil-A are in the rotation to host the semi final games but in years they don't they are going to be filled with at large bids with one of those spots reserved for the highest ranking mid-major. Meaning there will always be a Boise or Cincy, or UCONN in a major bowl.

I'll miss the Crystal Ball. This is classy and all, but it lack something IMO.

It'll look a lot better when we get a few of them in the ND trouphy case.
