I don't think there are many names, but you only need one. I think ND is in a great position with both Nelson and Holley, both of whom offer flexibility to play DE and another position (Nelson OLB or OT, Holley DT). Pruitt and Enoch are others who could play both, but they are lesser prospects on our board I believe.

Frazier, Clark, Curtis, Stanley are all more NG only prospects, and we want 1.

Then CAT our #1 realistic guy is Williams. Carter is a dream. Mustipher's teammate Aniebaum is probably a backup option.
I'm going to call you out! Thanks for not responding to my PM I sent last night!

What is a CAT?

It's our coaching staff's idiosyncratic name for the "Rush" OLB-- a hybrid DE/ LB who typically plays opposite the strong-side of the offensive formation. Both OLBs should be able to rush the passer, set the edge, and drop into coverage, but the focus for Cat LBs is primarily on the former two responsibilities.

Pete said in his podcast that he's just not a need. ND staff has him in same class as Jay Hayes.

I could definitely see that. I like Malik's tools and upside better than I do Jay Hayes', but right now as football players there isn't much to distinguish the two. Malik is far from a finished product like Da'Shawn Hand , Andrew Brown, or Lorenzo Carter who are all players you take regardless of numbers because they are basically sure things. Malik is far from a sure thing, he needs a couple years of seasoning before he can contribute, whereas those other 3 are plug n play defensive linemen.

theres some twitter chatter/gossip in MI about Malik transferring schools. Rumour is he is trying to get into Southfield HS. SCUM commit Lawrence Marshall is a star there already of course. Would be a nasty DL if Malik did make his way there.

Transfer to Southfield has been cleared. He will mixing it with the likes of Cass Tech and company this season rather than the lower ranks of HS ball in MI

I don't put to much stock into the crystal ball thing but it's slowly trending towards Michigan State. I remember I think it was Pete Sampson that said the ND staff liked Malik but never loved him.

That's a big deal for Midwest recruiting. If the skunkbears start to lose their hold on Michigan recruiting, that helps us out tremendously. We never go head to head with MSU for recruits but we go up against those douche bags in ann arbor frequently.

When was the last time Michigan actually put out a better team than MSU? At least since before Dantonio was hired I imagine.

Let's not talk shit. Those "Ann Arbor assholes" beat our Irish this year.

There really is very little to point to, to back up what I'm about to say but from watching both teams play throughout the season I truly believe it to be accurate. If we played Michigan 10 times this year we'd have beat them 7+. For the most part our defense got considerably better as the year went on and there O basically blew there wad that game. If we played them every week after that I think we'd start to dominate some of those games.

Good for them. We've had better teams since Hoke got there.

Which is pretty meaningless if we can't get the dub. That said, I fully expect next year's game to be an embarrassment for the meatchickens with EG back, and hopefully Tuitt.

Did we back off of him before? I thought he had eliminated us, but if we have a shot then let's land the big fella.

Yea, as the staff went through the process they weren't as high on him as some others. Some reports have him looking very very good at AA week.

This has to be Van Gorder right?? Hopefully not too late.

I think a combination of that and Dickerson. I don't think we'd be sending out this many offers if we still had Dickerson. We are looking to add two now versus just 1. Also, keep in mind that this is what they called a story line to follow. Nothing has happened yet.

Yes, it's Van Gorder. But it's more Dickerson than anything. Dickerson was extremely athletic with an extremely good frame and by all reports was a gem to the coaches. There was simply no need to recruit any other interior DL players unless they had a true NG build (which basically very, very few players do each year).

Coming into last week we only had 1 spot left for sure, and everything after that was a stretch. All needs were hit save "explosive" skill position player. Now, we have a big hole for an interior DL player (no pun intended). And we have two more spots on top of that open that we didn't think we would have.

This is one fatal flaw with this staff over the years... they're pretty inept at the "slow play." They don't often have contingency plans waiting in the wings in case of a decommit. So now it's scramble mode.
