Davonte did have an injury and the steps were taken in the offseason to correct that from what i was told. As far as any of the wild speculation thrown out across the internet none of them are the case. Wish him and his family the best going forward and the rest will take care of itself

Some of this stuff has come up but

Sapp said on Irish Huddle he doesn't think Davonte will consider the Arizona schools and will stick to California schools as mentioned. Doesn't think USC will be a destination. UCLA was brought up. Plan his for mom to move to California. Also said Davonte made his decision after Ferguson.

Kick ourselves was not a good choice of words, it implies that we had a say in the matter and from all accounts it sounds like we didnt.

Ucla seems to be a pattern for most ND transfers

BK wouldn't let him go to USC even if DN wanted to, right?

It will be interesting to watch the careers of all from Lynch to Prestwood; from Ferguson to Neal!

IMO a true "ND Man" (as some like to say here) would:
get married to the mother and move momma and baby up to South Bend raise the kid themselves while DN continued on with his education. that would be taking full responsibility for your actions.

my take on all this:
like so many "kids having kids" these days the real reason he is moving back to be "close with family" is this:

DN and baby momma are gonna get close to extended family so they can have the babys grandmas, grandpas take care of the kid for devonte and his babby momma.

You have to be kidding me NYC... So Mr. Egocentric, we should all be like you? Neg rep that crazy thought. That baby momma **** was over the top and in extremely bad form IMO.

Sorry for the delay as I have been out of town, but to put this to rest, when you returned the neg rep and stated this:

"back at you brother. kids today need to grow up and take responsibility for their actions"

If that was your true point, I have absolutely no problem with that-we are in agreement.

I did not like the presumption of what is going on with DN, and took issue with the baby mama comments-still believe that is in poor taste, IMO.

If Amir could get a hardship to be with his dad (3 hours away) going to live with your child should qualify.

Nice letter from the Neal Family to the ND Family.

It's rather eye opening to see that picture of him with his daughter, kid should not be faulted at all, if anything applauded. Best of luck DN.

That letter is pure class! Hate to see you go but you are doing the right thing no doubt about it. Those first years should be cherished by a parent and not being there would be a huge regret.

Nice write-up. Good luck to him and his family. RichRod got lucky there but despite my dislike for RR, I hope Neal blows it up in Arizona.

Man. I really like Davonte'. Too bad it didn't work out. Hes a good guy, talented, perfect Notre Dame man. If only his child was closer to ND or ND was closer to his family. :(

No worries- if he wins the Heisman at Arizona, we can still claim it as ours as per Mark May rules.

I kid...not really. Best of luck to the Neals!

Hate losing him, but you can't help hoping this kid does very, very well short term, at Arizona, and long term with family, etc..

True class act. Woulda love to see him stay, but I was a very young father once, and I understand why he left. I wish well for him, and his family, for the future.

“Having Baylee in my life just opens the door for me to be a better man,” he said. “It allows me to develop more responsibilities. I’ll become more of a man balancing school, football and having a baby.”

What a good kid. I too was a young father (still like to think I'm young) and it was tough to balance school and a baby; I can't imagine having football in there too.

I can't blame him for wanting to be closer to his child. It kills me to leave for work and not spend the day with my son and it would be way worse to live across the country from him.

I hope he thrives in Rich Rod's offense and Zona shreds SC.
