Brian Kelly needs to be like General Sam Houston for that game... instead of saying "Remember the Alamo!!" before sending off his soldiers to defeat the Mexican Army, BK needs to say "Remember the Champs Sports Bowl!"

I'd prefer more of a General Sherman. Burn the stadium to the ground.

I'm excited about this matchup. This is a game I'd like to see on a regular basis. It should be a good game.

If we had a few good games between us with each of us in the top five or ten, it would be a huge rivalry again, which will be nice to have since we are losing Michigan.

Is there any chance that Notre Dame picks up an annual game with Florida State or (not and!) Miami, to replace Michigan?

Awesome. Where is IrishinFL to get Gene's insider take.

I was busy recently, new job and stuff.

Anyways, everyone's invited to the Warchant.com tailgate, and the other tailgates I go to. I'll see if we can get Corner Pockets Bar to open early too. There will be a big party, so everyone in the IE facebook page will be invited to an event. Stay tuned for updates from me.

A rivalry that needs to be resumed. And, it fits into the five game ACC requirement. Tougher opponent than Arizona State!

I've seen this comment before, "A rivalry that needs to be resumed," and never understood it.

Seven games in 32 years isn't a rivalry.

There was one big game in '93, #1vs #2. The other 6 games (5 of which ND lost) weren't particularly memorable. The games were close except for '02 and '03. I was in Tallahassee for the '02 game. They were being whipped 34-10 when they got 2 quick TD's off a pair of bungled onsides kicks to make the score respectable at the end of the Willingham Smoke & Mirrors Tour. The next year they waxed Ty 37-0 in South Bend.

And yes it does fits into the 5 game ACC requirement and tougher than ASU.

You and I man slamming Red Bulls and chasing tail in Tallahassee. I can already see it.

I just really wanted to hit them with that gif. Didn't really work out.

Seems like ASU still wants the game.
Last week's news that Notre Dame has dropped Arizona State from its 2014 schedule is not going over well in Tempe, according to a report on Tuesday from Arizona Central.

As of now, ASU plans on holding the Irish to the contract that was signed between the two schools back in 2008, which set up a 2014 contest at Sun Devil Stadium and a 2017 game in South Bend.

ASU officials first learned of Notre Dame's intent to cancel the 2014 game last Friday through a phone call to the school's media relations office, which handles the bulk of football scheduling. Later that evening, the university issued a statement that read: “As far as Arizona State University is concerned we still have a valid contract with the University of Notre Dame to play football in 2014. We look forward to hosting them at Sun Devil Stadium.”
The agreement cites "an act of God, a national crisis, or other events beyond the control of the host institution" as grounds for canceling the game. ASU hasn't received anything in writing from Notre Dame as of Tuesday. Meanwhile, a report has come out that the Irish could play Florida State in place of the Sun Devils.

Losing Notre Dame from its schedule would force ASU to absorb a big financial hit, especially since the school has already begun marketing the game. While a resolution to the issue should come in the next month, it could leave the Sun Devils scrambling for a replacement game just 18 months out from the scheduled date. The 2017 game could also be in jeopardy.

Whatever the case, ASU and the Irish will meet in Arlington this coming Oct. 5 as part of Notre Dame's "Shamrock Series."
