The last question sapp asked him was if he was still going to take visits, including on to Florida and Andrew quickly replied "it's a done deal.".

Now we all know how recruiting goes but that's his words and it gives you some insight into where his head is right now

It's nice to hear for sure but you're right, with recruiting you never know. In Trumbetti's case this felt like just a matter of time situation. All I can say is I'm glad the time is now because this kid is a major talent IMO!

Visited with his mom and brother (who goes to Johns Hopkins)

Sounds like him striking up a friendship with Jay Hayes was a big part of his visit

Always wondered, whats the difference in strong side and weak side D ends?

Weakside = Pass Rush, Strongside = Run Stopper

Your Strongside DE has to be able to fight more double teams and still stop the run.

So would KLM have been the stongside and Tuitt the weakside?

There's typically not a Strongside or Weakside in a 3-4. All 3 of your D-linemen need to be able to fight double teams on a regular basis.

Weakside DEs on services are typically CAT LBs for us. Andrew is a big, big guy though so he seems destined for the D-line.

In a practical sense, this is right. But technically "strong side" and "weak side" are defined based on how the personnel is deployed. The strong side of the field is the side with more players on it - typically the side with the tight end.

As a practical matter, Beau is right. Because of how offensive plays are called with respect to using the strong side and the weak side personnel, typically defenses deploy their best pass rushers on the weak side and their better run stuffing end/linebacker on the strong side.

No, on rivals and the others I think Tuitt and lynch were both strong side while Ishaq, Councell and Rabasa were all weak side. I think it has less to do with whether they are run stoppers than their size really. Clowney and Nkemdiche were both strong side too and they, at least clowney, are great pass rushers.

Weakside ends in a 4-3 are the swing guys that play rush LB in 3-4 alignments. That is probably the easiest way to think of it. NewBrunswick is right to point out size. Smaller "pass rush specialist" guys like Dwight Freeney are prototype weak side DEs.

I'm curious about this as well.

Flipping through Rivals profiles, I don't see much correlation with height, but weight seems to be the key. 240-245 seems to be the magic range where WDEs turn into SDEs. Pretty flimsy distinction.

For instance, at 6'5'' 260, Tuitt was a prototypical SDE. At the end of the spectrum, Rabasa was definitely a WDE/ ROLB at 6'3'' 220. But Lynch is apparently a SDE at 6'6'', 245, whereas Ishaq (6'6'' 230) and Councell (6'5'' 225) are WDE.

Lynch always struck me as a prototypical 4-3 WDE.

Love seeing that! So glad we got a kid like this. I think he is gonna be a very good player for us. Reminds me of all those stud LB's that Stanford has been producing lately.

I hadn't thought about that before. But he does remind me of the olb/de stanford has been producing.
