Colleges should now offer to provide daycare as a service to it's athletes that have children.

Just a thought. Roll it into a scholly

Yes, but only up to $5,000 I believe ( I cant remember the exact number, havent done my taxes yet this year!). When I had 2 kids in daycare at the same time, it was easily $15,000+ a year in cost like FLdomer said at a reputable daycare. You can't just write everything off, ya know Kramer...

Yep -- and phases out rather quickly based on income.

Been gone for a day and now we have 2 new transfers. I prefer not to read thru all the pages since the news broke. Anyone care to spell it all out for me please? Thx.

In short (I've probably missed something as I'm just now logging on).
  • Neal - had a daughter. Likely transferring to a college in Cali where he has either "contacts" or "family". Also a buzz that he did not care for the current depth chart situation, further buz from a writer he wasn't finding a good fit. Who knows.
  • Ferg - the only thing I've seen here is that his dad made a statement. Buzz that he and Neal were best of buds, he may follow, and might have been a depth chart issue as well. Again, who knows. All speculation at this point.

What I'll miss the most is my vision of him breaking in one direction, Carlisle breaking the other, and Golson just getting the ball to whichever speedster is open.

His open field skills were going to be fun to watch.

I assume you would finish out the semester you are enrolled in prior to transferring as opposed to leaving in the middle of one. Well, unless education isn't important to that person.

Okay, so you got two guys who quit. One quits because he has a newborn daughter that needs him. The other quits, who knows? Okay? Now who leaves immediately and who waits until the end of term in May?

The Ferg situation just seems odd to me. Minimal info from anyone but a parent who is understandable protecting his child, then in the middle of a semester he is no longer enrolled. To me Neal is approaching it the right way. I wish he'd stayed, but I understand his desire to be around his newborn and be apart of his life and he seems to be finishing out the semester then transferring. No gap in schooling.

In the middle of the semester? In the middle of the Neal thread?

I respect your opinion man, but I gots to believe quitting at the bottom of the hill is all about avoiding the climb. An emergency is an emergency, go. And JF's dad seemed to indicate that there was no problem with the team per, Tony Alford. I think if there would have been a big grade issue, he wouldn't have said anything. But who knows.

After watching the highlights of this kid, I don't understand how we could let him get away from us. I suspect he got frustrated wth his lack of play last year and getting hurt this year.

Its not kind to the families to speculate. Eric Hansen/Brian Hamilton/etc jobs are to get people to read their stuff and draw ppl in keep that in mind. They say some things to draw ppl in when they know or at least i would hope they know facts

It just makes all kinds of sense for Davonte to play for RichRod at Arizona (if he insists on leaving ND :p

I think he's going to be a very very good collegiate player. We'll look back on this in a few years and kick ourselves.

Why don't some people understand this? It happens in too many threads, "Gotta be an academic issue...", "Can he make the grades...?" "Are his parents rational human beings...?", "He doesn't care about his future...," It is natural I guess to wonder, but since none of us have a RIGHT to know, it is possible that none of us will ever know, if we don't know we shouldn't speculate. If it comes out where we do one day know, then we should be glad that we were able to put one mystery to bed and be as tactful as possible, putting ourselves in their parents shoes or imagining that people were talking about our own kids. I mean it is a little fickle to be rah, rah-ing one day and casting aspersion's the next. This is not directed at anyone in particular and I am not trying to say this thread has gone over the top, just throwing it out there.

Yeah, I'm not sure there's anything we could have done differently to keep him. I think Lucci just meant we'll be sorry he's gone, if we aren't already (although I think most of us are).
