Isaac and Treadwell. Both weren't under the radar but I feel like ND should own top talent out of Illinois. Especially from the Catholic schools like Isaac attended. But I do love Folston and Bryant. I also think C. Robinson might become a beast at WR for us. He's my sleeper of the class.

Haha, ok I will give it to you. I got excited thinking about it for a minute there.

He would have won 13 Heismans, 7 Bednariks, and 5 Ray Guys.

"Come meet Randy Moss, 13 time Heisman winner" would have been an awesome sign to see on gameday at the bookstore.

It isn't for lack of trying. The kids just didn't want to come to ND. It's not for everyone I guess.

My vote is for randy moss. I remember the observer talking about this great receiver hat was bound for nd, then of course he beats the **** out of some kid and he was no longer coming to nd. He would have been great at nd.

Anzalone and Isaac Sav, no question. Look ahead to '14 and ND is a longshot for Garrett and Morgan (based on an update provided in Morgan's thread). Imo, we're a longshot for Raekwon as well (eventhough it's early and we made his top 5...just my gut). ILB is terrifyingly thin, esp once the two-head draon in Carlo/Fox leave.

I think Demetrius Cooper is gonna be a star at Michigan State. Would have been a beast as a CAT. Legit 6'5" and stupid athletic.

AQM. So long and explosive. Would have been an awesome project at CAT linebacker.

Although we weren't seriously in the running for Treadwell, I believe he will be a force for Ole Miss. A Floyd clone IMO.

Neither Moss nor AQM "got away".

Neither EVER passed ND's Academic Admission's Requirements.

A recruit didn't "get away" because HE failed to qualify ACADEMICALLY.

True. Didn't Moss qualify academically, but admissions just chose not allow him because of a controversial fight that may have been racially charged?

No, Moss never passed ND Admissions. There was a fight but Moss NEVER cleared Admissions. In '95 Holtz tried to finesse two recruits past Rooney in Admissions. They were sent NLI's without Admissions prior approval. After NSD Admissions stood their ground, "no one's an ND Student until Admissions approves them". Neither was approved academically. I wrote recruiting for the IRJ back then and did an article on it. I've commented on it several times over the years here on IE.

Darby or Analzone.

I think Giovanni Bernard belongs in the discussion.

per Rack Em, the OP:

Pick someone that ND pursued and either stopped for whatever reason or who just didn't pick ND. But have it be someone kinda under the radar and didn't get as much fanfare (ex] don't pick AQM).

Many of the guys previously mentioned as well as Darby, Anzalone, and Bernard don't meet Rack Em's criteria.

Thanks BGIF and STL. Sorry if I wasn't clear guys. I was thinking about the '13 class only.

Philly, I forgot about Cooper. I'm not looking forward to him rushing the QB off the edge.

I think it is Lax that had a thing for Delano Hill. I was bummed that he and Kyle Bosch picked the skunkbears. Like super bummed about Bosch. The only reason I didn't pick him initially was that we ended up with a superb OL class.

I'll go with Priest Willis. I think he is going to be a stud for UCLA. Just glad he didn't pick one of our rivals.

Runnerups: Mackenzie Alexander, Treadwell, Zeke Elliott

I know this isn't exactly the way the question was meant and this isn't a kid who turned us down or anything of the sort but Matt James was a stud and would be playing big minutes for us the next two years if he already wouldn't have been.

rip Matt.

found a quote of Matt's:

It was a really tough decision," James said then, according to the Enquirer report. "... I like the situation of being in the first class with Coach [Brian] Kelly there."
