I heard somewhere a couple of days ago that Saban tells the RB's he recruits that they will split time w other backs in order to keep them fresher for the League. He said he understands that RB has the shortest shelf life of all positions so he wants to manage their carries while at "school" so they will have more life left in them for Sundays. Oh, and he has now inked 85 in 3 years. Wonder if this means he won't accept anybody next year to stay in line w NCAA regs. Yup, Nick Satan.

"in line w NCAA regs" - if he was out of compliance, I'm sure something would be done about it. /sarc off.

Listened to Dan Patrick today and he had a couple of interesting comments. One, said he was talking with an ex-PAC 10 coach and the coach admitted when an SEC school wanted one of their recruits, they knew they couldn't pick the $$$ bid up and so would lose out on recruits.

Second, he mentioned that the baseball players union was against PED testing because numbers would come down then wages would come down. So, the union was looking the other way (so were the owners).

Its all about the money. Cam Newton is a perfect example. The people at the top are in it for power, money, prestige. Let's hope ND can find themselves on the right side more often that not.

whoever it was that asked where the golfer was going in the midst of all the EV chaos wins the award for comment of the night. it takes a lot for something on this board to actually make me Laugh Out Loud but that was brilliant.

Bob Diaco should be the next president of the United States, seriously.

Great read here from Dan Wetzel:

In the past, even under Kelly, Notre Dame lost recruits at the last minute, or even after signing day. This time was the opposite. The Irish raided USC for five-star defensive back Max Redfield and five-star defensive tackle Eddie Vanderdoes and hit up the University of Texas for tight end Durham Smythe.

Notre Dame held onto Florida running backs Greg Bryant and Tarean Folston, despite rampant recruiting attempts down South.

Kelly's program had core leaders, like linebacker Jaylon Smith of Fort Wayne, who didn't just stick with Kelly, but spent the days Kelly wasn't talking to anyone doing it for him. He communicated with the rest of the class, making sure no one was bailing.

"We had a number of kids in this class that recruited each other," Kelly said. "That's what made this class such a strong class."

They began calling themselves the "Irish Mob," using hashtags on Twitter. Even as the world mocked 42-14 and laughed at Manti, Notre Dame became cool again.

Kelly just swept it aside and loaded up with the kind of athletes that might one day return to a championship game and, this time, give mighty Alabama all it can handle.

"We begin today by talking about what our future is going to look like," Kelly said Wednesday.

January's gone.

Amen.

Wetzel is awesome. One of my faves.

Wetzel's article has me all fired up now! Time to kick some ***! Losing some pretty spectacular players but gaining even more. Depth, depth, and quality depth will keep us in the hunt for years to come!

Great haul and I'm really juiced about these lineman. O line/D line is really getting my attention. If the o line is the motor of the team then we may have just picked up a D-8 Caterpillar power plant to add to what is already a good group. They could end up being on of Notre Dame's best. What'll they get a load of Longo.

Great haul for 2013. Players at every position that I can see making a difference. Fantastic job coaches.

The 2014 recruiting cycle is now in full gear. Time for the gut-wrenching flips. The rampant speculation. The he's not coming here posts, and OMM reminders on loading up on the "bigs".

I'm ready.... Are you?

That's a crazy story. Never heard of that one happening before. Reports are that the family is at least talking about it and trying to work it all out. I feel sorry for the kid with his mom messing up his big day.

Bob Diaco's last words in the interview yesterday? Go Irish!

I have a question. As I am trying to make myself more rounded, and have very little information on how classes are rated and evaluated, noticed something that doesn't make sense to me.

With Rivals for examle, they have ND rated the number 4 class. There are a number of colums including those headed "Points" and "Average." Points is where the class order rating comes from, but how are they determined? And how come ND at #4 has the highest AVE of anyone? If there is a thread or a place to go for a class, after all isn't all of our goals becoming better every day?

Reports out of Miami are that she didnt want him to sign the papers because the Arkansas check hadn't cleared yet at the time of the ceremony.
cant fault her for that can we?

OK, not sure where to post this so I will do so here. On Rivals, how in the hell is Ohio St. ahead of ND?!?!?!?

Ohio St.---2-5*, 16-4*, 6-3*
ND---------4-5*, 14-4*, 6-3*

It doesn't matter, and I wouldn't trade our class for any other class out there, but.....how in the hell does that work out?

Looks to me like the same class, but we have 2 5*'s where they have 4*'s.

It's nice that this is what I am worried about the day after signing day. :)

EDIT:: Someone just asked the same question on the main board over there, makes sense now. Their 4*'s must be 6.0 guys where some of ours are 5.8.....I still like our class better :)
