Some Irish coaches (surely Alford, not sure who else) will be spending most of the day tomorrow at Folston's school, per Wiltfong.

Man, if anyone doubted the staff's commitment to Folston after we snagged Bryant, the efforts to keep Folston now should allay the doubt.

Extremely troubling update on 247. Folston almost reopened process last night but long conversation with Alford held that off. Father apparently in ND's corner but he is definitely listening to Auburn who continues to put on the full court press.

At this point, I'm skeptical that he sticks.

Is it too late to make a phone call to Corey Clement?

If he flips, its certainly not the staff's fault. They have went above and beyond trying to secure him and make him feel wanted. It's up to Folston to realize what is best for him and having said that I dont know why he would want to play and attend Auburn, baffling.

I can't even begin to comprehend what Auburn is up to behind the scenes.

It's way too late in the cycle for this to be in our favor

I hate to say it. But I doubt he dons the b,ue and gold fellas.

I havent felt good about him sticking for awhile now, I think he wants to get on the field ASAP and knows he has immediate competition at ND.

lol so true... once again, this is why I don't like reaching for players from the south/cali on the regular. On the whole, it's much easier to hold onto someone from the midwest or eastern seaboard.

The only reason why we landed Folston/Bryant in the first place is that the options in the south for them were looking unappealing at the time and we were 12-0 and #1 in the country. I'm pretty positive we hold onto Bryant for sure but I'm not surprised at all that there is some wavering going on.

This RB coach coming over from FSU is more than anything what is hurting us... he's a darn good recruiter.

Yep. I hate to say this ... but ALLGATOR may have been right on this one. He said from the beginning that Folston really wanted to go to school somewhere in the South but all the schools in which there was mutual interest filled up at his position. Now Auburn has an intriguing new/old coach who wants him, and his dream of playing high-level football in the South is suddenly attainable again.

But at what point do you ask yourself even if he commits here does he feel comfortable and stay? I would love him to come here but this is on a Lynch path it sounds like.

Gotta love recruiting!

Auburn 247 site is reporting this morning that Folston is still in close talks with the Auburn staff and they feel like they can flip him. As Sapp pointed out, ND feels he has reaffirmed and is solid. Auburn wants two more RBs in this class.

Just one more week.

Then 2014 goes full throttle.

it will definately be an interesting week. I don't feel comfortable about this recruitment but he could certainly stay with Notre Dame.

But hey, at least it's at a position where we are probably the deepest

at this point you go all in for folston and bryant making sure they stick...IF for whatever unfortunate reason they flip i think we lay low at RB and don't press the issue and just go after another 2014 target. with isaac seemingly like he's going to stick to usc there's no use getting crazy. probably not enough time to do so anyway.

perhpas we use the scholly for that punter we saw highlights of over the weekend...idk

just make sure you don't swing and miss on both GB and TF

I would be a lot more uncomfortable if he pulled a EV or Redfield and decommited stating he wants to weigh all his options. At least he's still verbal committed even after the visit, so I see that as a good thing. He wasn't so sold that he had to decommit from ND and commit to AU.

I think it is going to come down to whoever gets the last word in honestly but either way I think we won't know until NSD.

The easiest way to let down a school you have been committed to is to sign with another team on NSD. I think there are a lot of kids that are afraid to say no to someone, especially someone you have built a good relationship with. To avoid this you just wait until NSD, sign with the the other school and then that cuts off the contact from the school you were previously committed to. Why do you think so many kids flip on NSD?

In one thread we are calling these reports jokes and to not take them for their word, I'm this one were instantly assuming our commit is good as gone. Don't understand. This staff will take care of their business, end of story.

lol, I agree, one seemingly negative report and half the board jumps on it and says "he gone." Some of you live on the ledge when it comes to recruiting.

why would anyone want to play for Auburn. They are terrible.

They were terrible this past season, but I could understand why a senior RB in high school might decide Auburn is a decent place:

1. Malzahn has proven he knows offense, and will get creative as well. Great playcaller.
2. Early playing time. Folston could play right away in a unique offense, or compete in a crowded backfield at ND. If I was waiting on an SEC offer, early PT would be icing on the cake.
3. He can do all of this with a somewhat lighter courseload. I'm not saying he is not committed to great academics, nor am I saying he is looking for an easy way out. He could very well go to Auburn and take harder classes than anything he would've picked to study at ND. But, it could still be a factor.
4. SEC. The best conference (or at least producing the best team every season). Starting from day 1 in what is viewed as the best conference? I would listen.

Bash Auburn all you want, but they do (although debatable how it was attained) have a crystal football that wasn't won when Alf was still on the air, and play in the toughest division in the toughest conference in CFB. That has to have some appeal even in the wake of a season that was an abortion, to put it mildly.

We'll see what happens, but don't kid yourself, recruits see Auburn as a good landing spot, even if we don't.
