Not only are minds set...I think people are tired of hearing about it...downright annoyed.

Bingo. 99.9% of reasonable, intelligent people are convinced MT got duped and wasn't part of perpetrating this whole thing. Most just feel for the guy and are ready to move on and let him do the same.

I love your optimism Cogs but don't let bias over take your brain. If we were in the SEC I could count at least 4 losses. Bama, Florida, South Carolina, and Georgia. I don't think LSU would beat us. We need more stamina in our secondary and we got a wake up call in Miami. That Pitt game was disgusting and shouldn't have been that close for us. Most people know that southern football is at a much faster tempo but that doesn't mean that we can't climb back to the hilltop of greatness. We just have to stay honest with ourselves.

What worries me is that every time I think this hoax thing is about to die, something else pops up again on T'eo and his involvement. I'm worried how this will affect us with recruiting in the future.

Florida got run over by Louisville, SC barely beat Michigan (who couldn't score against us), Georgia struggled for 3 qtrs with Nebraska who got annihilated by Unranked Wisconsin. The difference between those teams and Bama is that ND would be able to run the ball and have a balanced attack against them.

If you're a top SEC team, you only play 1 maybe 2 of those top teams a year, so no, not 4 losses.

Thanks for addressing the elephant in the room. The SEC had 6 highly ranked teams and the only one that played 4 of the others was Florida, but they just happen to get A&M as their crossover game. People reel off those teams names when talking about the grueling SEC schedule but in reality they play about 2 or 3 tough games a year. Kind of like most teams in the country.

You have a point. Even the SEC teams don't want to run that kind of gauntlet. The most I think Florida had was three which was unusual.

Last night, Jay Leno opened his monologue with a Te'o joke. It wasn't so bad, same old stuff. Then he asked the crowd if they thought Manti was part of the hoax (paraphrasing). To my surprise and satisfaction, the applause was luke warm in my opinion.

Now maybe people are just tired of the subject, or didn't think Leno's joke was that funny, but the crowd reaction to the question was underwhelming.

I agree... we are all sick of it. But here is a classic example of why its so hard to forget about this when more issues keep coming forward like this from today. :(

Manti Te'o girlfriend hoax perpetrator Ronaiah Tuiasosopo impersonated 'Lennay Kekua' female voice over phone to speak to Notre Dame player - NY Daily News

That's old news and has already been discredited. Voice experts have been unanimous that the voice on Manti's voicemails was a woman. Tuiasosopo seems determined to take the blame for this and is likely trying to protect his accomplices.

The cure for syphilis is long and painful if you have had it for a while. Everything is relative.

Wisdom of the Crowd. For Chaos Theory fans, it is one of the most fascinating aspects of the theory. It marries human nature to the fundamental knowledge and wisdom of all things found in the universe. As much as some of us long suffering ND fans would love to think that people will have this irrational belief that Manti is a gay, scheming hoaxer, just because it allows them to hate ND, the truth is that they are much more ambivalent, and understanding, The truth is they only bring it up because they know it irritates us.

Thank God, Johnny is such a rebel and bucks the crowd!

The NCAA has done about all they can do to control the sec type way of doing things. We know all the tricks or stretching of the rules thats done-its documented. As long as things stay the way they are nothing will change. In 2 years you will have 3 out of 4 teams in the final 4 that are from the sec. That is why I hoped Notre Dame would beat Alabama. In my mind what has happened is a huge loss for college football. Its professional now and schools like Notre Dame must be perfect to get their shot. sec has the market cornered boys and until they get their @##$# beat what you see is what you get. A conference that wont tell on each other/bend the rules to whatever extent they can/provide a place for non student athletes to get prepared for the pros/continue their phoney baloney business. They win and they dictate-under the present standards they is nothing else to expect. Eveyone knows what is going on but nothing under the present rules can stop it. Be proud of Notre Dame they are not an embarrassment to the present system.

Thats a bit surprising. Isn't the show taped in LA or nearby? You would think there would be a lot of USC fans making it an overwhelming majority against Manti especially since he spurned them.

In all fairness, the 30 for 30 that comes out 20 years from now about the SEC 2000s dominance will be even better than the Pony Excess one where they blatantly talk about how much cheating went on. It will be entertaining to say the least.

The folks behind the organization People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals will combine two American fascinations, the Super Bowl and the Manti Te'o hoax, to publicize the use of "faux-chicken" recipes at your next tailgate.

Everything in that sentence is true.

DR. PHIL: Interviews alleged hoaxer Ronaiah Tuiasosopo

Credit the legwork to Matt Hinton of CBSSports.com (and Sunday Morning Quarterback), who writes that PETA hopes to erect a billboard in New Orleans before the crowd descends upon the city for Sunday night's Super Bowl. The advertisement PETA has submitted for approval features a picture of Te'o, the All-American linebacker, with the tagline "Sometimes faking it is better."

Underneath, in the small print, the billboard reads "Score faux-chicken Super Bowl recipes at PETA.org."

NFL: Te'o braces for the upcoming NFL blitz

If you can recall, Te'o has said he was the victim of a "catfishing" hoax involving a non-existent girlfriend, Lennay Kekua. While Te'o believed that Kekua had died on Sept. 12, he learned in December – and for a time failed to divulge the truth – that she was a hoax, one allegedly perpetrated by an acquaintance, Ronaiah Tuiasosopo.

PETA said in a release:

"Manti Te'o may have been buffaloed by a fake girlfriend, but sometimes 'fake' is actually better. That's why PETA created this billboard urging football fans to avoid unnecessary roughness to chickens on Super Bowl Sunday by intentionally grounding real chicken wings and opting for play-action fake fowl instead."
PETA does not care for the way chicken wings are actually prepared, typically in a lovely and delicious glaze of oil and fat before being deep-fried to delicious, finger-smacking deliciousness.

TE'O: Says biggest lie was the one he told his father

While there might be a holdup on the billboard based on its use of Te'o's likeness, Hinton quotes PETA media officer Wendy Wegner: "PETA's counsel has reviewed the use of Te'o's image and the Notre Dame logo in this context, and PETA thinks that the use is appropriate."

Says PETA, "This Super Bowl Sunday, opt for healthy and humane faux wings. That way, nobody gets hurt."
PETA uses Manti Te'o in faux-chicken ad: 'Sometimes faking it is better'

Just under 90% of people liked Te'o before the hoax... now just over 50% do. So basically 5x as many people dislike Te'o now because of the original spin of the Deadspin article. Awesome. I wonder how much $ that cost him in endorsements.... probably multiple millions.

I am going to stuff chicken wings inside a pig, inside a cow. Grill all to perfect deliciousness. I will call it wingy pigcow. These PETA people need to leave certain things alone. Don't **** off ND nation.

Sadly the ribbing about this will probably be something Manti has to live with forever. The other teams will constantly be using it to try and get in his head. If he wasn't such a good Mormon kid, I'd suggest he play right into it and adopt a theme song like "Lola" or "Take a walk on the wild side" and start messing with them first to head it off at the pass.
