I think he will get drafted, but probably will fall out the first round.

Didn't Janoris Jenkins have multiple run-ins with the law and still go 2nd round?

Wasn't Cam Newton a part of a HUGE scandal and still went no. 1 overall?

Lets not exaggerate Sherm...

What? You're confused about who I was replying to. After she "died" Manti, or someone posing as Manti, posted a tweet from her account saying thanks for the support or something along those lines. Hopefully that wasn't really Manti. So f'ng confusing.

I thought of this issue as well. He could very easily have gotten the password to the twitter account and still not known it was a fake.

I don't think a white lie or two about an internet girlfriend being more than an internet girlfriend is a big deal. Some people get really serious about girls/guys they meet on the internet. I know a guy who travelled overseas and married an internet girlfriend he had never met in person.

I can see a person when confronted with a question about this girlfriend deciding to hide the embarrassing fact that he had never actually met her by saying "Oh yeah we get together now and then..."

Random thought: Wonder why Stanford never came out and said nobody by that name graduated from this school?

Maybe they felt it's not their place but not even a leak?

Just odd.

That was not my original opinion, until i started listening to Mike Francesia who convinced me that he will fall in the draft and may not even be drafted. Damn you Mike Francesia

I also listened to Mike as well and although I think it could have an affect on his draft status, Mike is a fish out of water here. He does not understand how people can meet over the internet. It is like explaining to my Dad about Facebook or Twitter...

“@GoFightinIrish: Lets say Manti made this up. His on-field performance is untainted. He lead ND to an amazing season, & will be an NFL stud. The relevance?”

This is a notre dame football account on twitter with 29k followers and I'm ready to ring whoevers behind this twitter handle after that asinine statement...

I'm signing off for the night... let me just say Occam's razor clearly trends towards Manti getting duped.

Like BKelly to the Eagles, you cannot trust any one source. I cannot say for certain if he was involved or not, and thats freaking sad.

No wonder Manti decided to skip the senior bowl.

Not many people with high draft potential play in the Senior Bowl.

This will cost him at least a first round pick no matter what the result is.

I doubt that. Kid can ball. And if it wasn't his fault, which by his statement it appears as such, thats not going to be a problem.

Did he or did he not meet her at Stanford? If he made that up....ouch!

He made it up, or someone did. She existed online and on the phone.

As for performing in the NCG, could be part of it but I highly doubt it. Alabama kicked the crap out of us.

My question is: How can one go out with a girl without ever seeing her in person? You need at least one kiss in my book.

I am not that old btw.

Dude i dont get it either, im 25 years old and dont have a twitter, facebook or any of that stuff. This is as close as i get to a social media site

All this really shows is that ND needs to step up their cheerleading game. I don't think any SEC All-Americans are in online relationships. Jesus Christ.

Many of NDFB's Twitterati frequently rail against whoever runs that fake account. Maintains a huge following by pretending to be the official account.

Saw this on twitter.

I hope this is true. And I also hope this was not yet another ploy at it's highest levels. This would be one of the greatest attempted mastrmind moves of college football history (could he have had someone call him with a set up phone call about her death?). Just thinking out loud here. His phone records will go along way in this investigation. Did he/(the fake her) really speak via the phone for extended periods of time? When he did the Oct. 2 interview with Gene Woj(can't spell the rest of his last name), Gene W. asked him certain questions about Manti providing certain items dealing with her and his response was (paraphrasing) the family would prefer that I not do that. This sounds so fishy on so many levels it seems hard to believe he is totally uninvolved, but I HOPE THAT HE IS.

No effect on draft status. To the contrary, barring a major character issue related to this, this whole thing provides a reason for a "subpar" NT game performance in which he had 10 tackles and maybe puts him back where he was before the game, assuming he dropped after the game.
