That's not going to happen. I mean the guy did interview with an NFL team. He's now a terrible coach, should be fired, and a horrible human being that does not represent ND well according to quite a few on here.

Get this through your heads. AS A COLLEGE COACH, YOU DON'T TURN DOWN AN NFL INTERVIEW UNLESS YOU ARE A COACHING LEGEND. PERIOD. It's one thing for Parcells or Gruden to say, 'You know what, I'm just not interesting in your franchise'. Brian Kelly has every right to interview for the job and he has every right to take the job if he so desires. When he was 12-0 he was the savior. Now he's a bum. We got our asses handed to us in the NCG by a team that has a decided roster advantage due to numerous factors and has a better, more experienced coaching staff. It's not like we lost to a lesser team. We got beat by the best team in the country in the most important game of the season. A season that most people on here thought would end at 7-6 or 8-5 again. ND has won 20 of it's last 24 games. Losing only to USC, Stanford, FSU, and Bama. Get the f*ck over yourselves.

@rivalsmike: Anzalone has been advised not to comment so text message to me is in story and will be only on record stuff out there I assume.

Advised not to comment, huh?

I don't blame him. Apparently Kelly will be gone, if not now, at the next opportunity. And that means all the position coaches will be gone also. If I were a 4 or 5 star recruit I would want to go to a place that is stable with a solid coach and a committed staff. That apparently isn't Notre Dame. First Diaco and now Kelly. I bet we lose three or four more before February signing day and I doubt we will get any we have been pursuing.

If overblown rumors is all it takes, he was going to leave anyways. Might as well do it now with 1 month left to recruit.

All of this is true, but you can't sit there and tell me BK timed all of this correctly.

So I guess that means no recruit should to Oregon either?

the two coaches he was probably closest or most committed to: Kelly, Diaco - are interviewing rumored to be interviewing at other jobs...re-lit the flame and opened the door for him...guess that's the way i see it

Actually he timed it at the best time. Would you of rather had him do it before the ntg? That's a huge distraction to his team before playing the most important game in the last 24 years

Is this supposed to be in italics?

dang, i had bet my buddy that Mayock would pronounce "anzalone" like "provolone" more than (the proper) "bologna" over the course of his ND career.
now we'll never know.
but i feel strongly i would have won this wager.

When do you interview then? Before the NCG? Then you're not preparing properly. After EE? Well he pulled the wool over the EE kids to get them here now he's thinking of ditching on them. It's a no win. The timing is all relative guys. If it's perceived as wrong by some now, it would have perceived the same or worse at any other time. Bottom line being Coach Kelly just led a team from unranked and finished 12-0 and ranked #1 in 2012 with a daunting schedule at Notre Dame. He is going to get looks from the league guys. Nature of the business.

I see your point irishroo, but we must take into consideration that the world doesn't stop for me or you, or the Eagles, or ND, or Coach Kelly. Brian Kelly has earned the right to consider NFL jobs. He has won everywhere he's been and he did it the hard way, from D2 and up.

Maybe we can ask our resident Floridian, ALGATOR, to call Alex on our behalf? He can say something like... "Dear Alex, I don't really think you're good enough for Florida...."

Speculation of a new recruit committing from CA

Christian - are you hearing anything?

There are rumblings on twitter...

Edited with actual tweets:

Nothing solid at this point but the void left by Anzalone could be filled in a big way.

Sorry but I disagree. This is about integrity. He sat in people's homes when he was recruiting kids and gained the trust of their parents. He has an incoming class that I'm sure he gave the impression he would be here to wlecome them. To handle this in the manner he did sucks and I have lost all respect for him. Not because he is interviewing with the Eagles but because of everything surrounding this, i.e. the timing of interviewing then not being available for the recruits to reach out to him since he can't reach out to them, the comments about wanting to work with 18-22 year old men, etc. There used to be a time when someone's word meant something. Our recruits have been showing more integrity than BK. As far as I am concerned, he could win five NCs and would still never be in the same class as Ara or Lou.

I'm not gonna bash him because regardless he is a close friend of mine but it does hurt that he didn't have the decency to tell me

I found out thru other people.. Why couldn't you stick it out and wait for a decision like everybody else? What makes you so special?

Anzalone has always been wishy washy. I guess today just kind of confirms it.

Not sure what you're trying to do here...

not trying to do anything. But I think about everybody and their brother on this site knows Mattingly was a OLB. but if we move Randolph inside then we are short an OLB. Obviously we have a few waiting in the wings but some of those could potentially move to DE so we would still be short.

Mattingly's upside in our class was his flexibility position wise and providing depth.

If we land Prevot, and Vanderdoes then Mattingly who, but if we don't I wish we had him.
