I think the "timing" would have to coincide with the galactical eclipse, not necessarily modern time-zones.

According to Christian theology noboby is going to expect or predict the apocalyspe. So while it could happen 12/21/12 I'm pretty confident the world makes to 12/22/12.

I may be an idiot, no wait I am, but I thought it was at midnight of 12/21/12 which would be tomorrow night.

On a side note, and to tie in with the very tragic recent events, local to me they closed all of the schools tomorrow as there were threat rumors on social media similar to that of events last week. Noting that students were rumoring since the world would end at midnight Friday night, they would 'take out' fellow students and teachers they disliked during school Friday. They didn't just close one district, they closed every one in the county and several counties in Michigan.
