All this conversation is well, superfluous, but what is wrong with just saying this coaching staff will find the position he is best at? Between Kelvarie Russel, Romeo Okwara and Troy Niklas, I am am not hearing too many complaints.

I also remember reading that ND and Oregon both said he could play either position but he said that he feels his best position is safety. I agree with Max that he is a NFL caliber safety.

Where's the fun in that Bog? If we all said that, we couldn't debate and make eachother feel stoopid.

Kid is a baller but he should be on defense IMO. So far in basketball he has scored a high of 20 points. They are undefeated and 2nd in county behind Mater Dei. i will try and make it out to a game and wear my ND gear

Kelly has always been really good at finding the right spots for his guys, no doubt about it.

Mike Frank on ISD correlated Max's recruitment with Amir Carlisle (Christian concurred), something that really scares me and I can see perfectly. Two kids who everyone says are "ND type kids", who truly get what ND stands for and everyone believes we lead for during the majority of his recruitment, only to sign with USC at the very end.

I sure hope Mike and Christian are off on this one.

A poster on II said that Chris Hawkins feels good about USC landing Redfield. Supposedly Hawkins (or his dad, I'm not sure) posted this on the Main Board. I looked for it but couldn't find it. TIFWIW.

Apparently this was posted yesterday now that I reread the II thread.

I remember feeling good about landing Deontay. I remember USC feeling good about Manti. I remember OSU and PSU thought Anzalone was a near lock.

Too bad someone can't subtly make that point to Max, and point out where Amir is right now.

Chris said it to their mod and he reported it on their premium site. This came out yesterday afternoon.

Also, there is a misconception among many that USC has just started to talk to Max about playing WR, and that was a major shift in his recruitment. That's wrong. They approached him about that months ago, before he even decommitted. Proximity to home and the bonds he shares with a couple of their commits (esp Su'a) are what is tugging at Redfield IMO (I haven't listened to Power Hour yet, so I could be way off).

The analogy breaks down a little since (a) Redfield was committed to USC before he visited ND and liked it and (b) he wanted to be a drama major, and USC has a good program and is in Los Angles.

Thanks Hollywood. I was trying to piece the whole story together but I only peruse the 4HL and rarely go on the Main Board.

Forget that. Get out to his house and put a sign in his front yard telling him we love him, lol

Either way, I bet ND beats USC for the next 4 years, Golson.......I am hearing Randolph the LB from Virginia is now beast physically, add that to Anzalone and Jaylon and Jarret Grace-difficult to run on. Shumate will be a stud, come on down MAX.

ISD updated late last night that things could be trending back towards ND. Christian said he is hearing that from a very reliable source/sources. Also said "nothing concrete" so TIFWIW.

Cooks was in to see him last night correct?

I wonder how his visit with Cooks went last night

Supposedly well. Most people are confident we still lead and will land him. Per ISD from "sources" our staff still feels really confident... so do other players in the class.

But if there is one truism in recruiting it is that anything is possible... there is a lot of time for things to change, and we won't know until the Under Armour AA game who he picks.

Sorry, I was just finishing my period yesterday.

Davaris Daniels, 3yrs
Daniel Smith, 2yrs
Justin Ferguson, 3yrs

Won't Davaris have two years, Daniel one, and Justin Ferguson four?

Don't remember about Smith, but Daniels didn't see the field in '11, so he's got three. And Ferguson played on special teams in '12, so I believe he'd also have three.

I want to see Max at safety. It's been since Zbikowski, IMO, that we've had a real playmaker at safety. Think about ND having Bacarri Rambo (UGA) this year. Would be awesome.

Sure Bruton, McCarthy, Harrison, and now Zeke were/are solid players, but they aren't the playmaker that Redfield would be.

I'm confident he'll be in the blue and gold soon.

Now that you mention it, we have had a pretty stellar crop of Safeties over the years. I think we definitely have a "Tight-End U" thing going on but you could make an argument for Safety U.

Man. Max and Shumate at safety, with Russsell and Luke at corner. The future is bright my friends. :)

Harrison Smith is one of the best safeties to ever come out of Notre Dame and was the definition of a playmaker. I have no idea why he doesn't get more credit. He was a bonafide stud for 2 years, was a 1st round draft pick, and has 2 TDs already this year in the NFL as a rookie.
