I think you're being a little sensitive.

It's been a hell of a long time since we've been here, ND is a Catholic university, nobody thought that this schedule would allow us to be in this position, and everything fell perfectly into place last week (with insane underdog victories.)

I think that's what they're going for.

Of course you are right. For one thing, that we are the only undefeated team is kind of a miracle -- at least it's something we had no control over. More importantly, SI is just using the word miracle to be witty.

What can I say, I'm a little defensive after putting up with the haters all these years. Lol.

If you make it smaller, you could probably put the Manti cover right next to it to fill it out horizontally.

not that well versed in how to do that...by the way i should've used italics...I knew it was WAY too big but wanted to have fun...i feel really happy this week for some reason

Following a wild weekend of upsets in college football, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are ranked No. 1 in the BCS standings for the first time in school history, and No.1 in the Associated Press poll for the first time since November 1993. This rise to the top lands them on the cover of this week’s Sports Illustrated, marking the 24th time the Notre Dame football program has been featured on the cover, and the first since Maurice Stovall on September 30, 2002. You can purchase this week’s cover here.

The Irish are marching onward to the national championship game – and downward from the moral high ground they have claimed for a century. In this week’s Sports Illustrated, senior writer Tim Layden goes inside the football culture change at Notre Dame, a place where the team can’t merely be good; it must also call to mind the glory of a century-long football tradition. This year’s team is the first one in awhile to do both.

OH F*CK YOU SI.

Ah, thanks GITF. Now I can see it.

Lol, I'm kind of offended that they called our football team a miracle, and it has nothing to do with religion. Maybe I'm being over-sensitive, but is that implying that we aren't really as good as our record? 100 guys working their asses off all spring and summer to get better is not a miracle. We are winning because we have a defense that's rock-solid and an offense that's improving due to great coaching and hard work. Where's the miracle?

I think the "miracle" is that we are actually legitimately good finally when nobody saw it coming and after conventional wisdom had accepted that we'd never be good again.

Screw jinxes, bad luck, etc. We have been waiting to control our own destiny, and now we do.

agree...just read an article about the bad luck thing as pertains to K state...

It wasn't the SI cover that killed K state...it was being the hunted that killed K state...and having someone make their season about beating you...Thats us nearly every week...

BK kinda summed it up...its about ND being like they are #1 every week anyway...always a target...so I kinda think if we lose it won't be because we didn't expect to have SC play out of their heads...

I am very devout and don't find myself all that horrible. I'm sure what you mean to find annoying are people who intend to find controversy and something to complain about in just about anything. And while some people might mistakenly or purposefully, for the sake of controversy, equate, and be offended by a confusing of, a miracle season for a football team named after Notre Dame with a Notre Dame miracle of the more heavenly type, I think this phenomenon has much more to do with just being a logically-impaired/irritating person than it has to do with being especially religious.

Yeah, I agree with your take. Also, I was kidding. Maybe not the right audience for that joke. I will say, though, that I don't necessarily consider "hardcore" and "devout" to be synonymous. When I think of someone who is "hardcore," I tend to think of crazy people who are unwilling to let reasonableness stand in the way of their devotion. For instance, a hardcore Mets fan would have argued that Jose Reyes was a better shortstop than Derek Jeter, whereas a merely devout Mets fan may have loved Reyes and not cared for Jeter, but would be too reasonable to make that kind of statement. Maybe not the best example, but crunched for time. The point is that "hardcore" people (as I said, about anything) are the ones I'm leery of, not religious people. Sorry to have offended.

Oh it's no worries. There are no conflicts of interest among reasonable men. As you said, I think it comes down to what we mean when we characterize something as hardcore. Anyway, back to SI and curses.

CAD, I find it offensive that your signature is not "Roll Tide"

I don't like a lot about Alabama, but sometimes I just say "roll Tide" for fun. If I were a Bama fan I would go whole days only saying "roll Tide" to everyone in response to everything.

Haha the jinx thing made me think of that Coach episode where Luther freaks out because fo the curse. I absolutely loved that show. I can't find it anywhere in Canada.

That cover is splendid. The Gold helmet, TD Jesus reflecting, and the latin Title. Just perfect.
