Even after watching them lose to Stanford, I'd rather play 'Bama than Oregon.

As in, you think ND has a better chance against Bama than Oregon? I'm not sure. My gut says Oregon because after watching them play/lose to a common opponent, I know that they're exactly what I thought they might be and I know we can beat them if we take care of the ball. Bama is more of an unknown to me.

Oregon has the best offense in CFB by a country mile. They can score from anywhere on the field at any time. Stanford beat them by beating the sh!t out of UO's OL, but while our front-seven is good, they're not nearly as aggressive or disruptive as Stanford's.
'Bama plays into our strengths. It would be like the 'Bama-LSU game, except that we have a competent offense.

I live in the south and listen to Finebaum alot. Alabama fans 3 weeks ago were crowing they want Notre Dame as they think it would be EASY. So as for me if my Irish are able to get to that game-bring on Alabama. College guys against pros and the first time ever the graduation champion plays for all the marbles. I would like to see Notre Dame carrying the flag for the rest of college football against the SEC. They think it will be a cake walk.

I want Alabama. Beat the champion of the SEC. By the way the SEC combined has played 9 games against BCS opponents. They boast an impressive 3-6 record. I would trade a kidney to beat Alabama in the championship game.

The best thing for our season and for college football in general would be for us to play and defeat the SEC champion. That means WHOEVER that is --- because if it's someone other than Alabama, that means that team has beaten out Alabama. So, I don't care whether it's Alabama or not --- they are a symbol, that is agreed, but those other guys think that they're top-sh!t too. So, my best storyline is ND vs SEC, and all of a sudden we'll be the most popular team in the country everywhere but the deep south. Football fans almost everywhere want to see these guys go down, for almost exactly the reasons we do.

It has to be Bama. This game is so much more than just Notre Dame vs Alabama for the national championship. It is the two most storied programs playing in a game that will be bigger than the Super Bowl. It is the rest of the country verses the SEC. This SEC run needs to end.

Agree with all of this, and I also prefer Bama. And don't forget that Oregon's D was really banged up last night against Stanford. The Oregon team we would see in the NCG isn't the same one that Stanford beat last night. That said, I'd take our chances against Oregon for sure, but I like the Bama matchup better.

But I believe we match up better with Bama than Oregon. UGA would be fine because that would mean they had just beaten Bama in the SEC championship game. KSU, IMO, is unrealistic at this point. I doubt there's any way they recover enough to get back into the NCG picture. They got doubled up against a team that isn't even bowl eligible.
