Folston's omission in my previous post was an oversight. I went back and added him in with Treadwell and Robinson, though it's very possible that the staff would make him wait until we got definite answers from some bigger fish.

And you guys beat me to the punch on the DT issue. As much as I'd love to land Redfield, Robinson, etc., Montravius Adams, Kenny Bigelow, or Eddie Vanderdoes would be far more important to this class. They're the 3 top-rated DTs by 247's Composite ranking, and 2/3 are currently committed to USC.

Poaching one of them would be a huge recruiting coup.

KB- won't qualify (see post above)

MA- Not coming

EV- Don't know if the staff even keeps in contact with him.

I'd be completely disappointed if the staff didn't at least call Eddie. Like I mentioned earlier, UCLA is going after him right now. Sounds like a "committed but still looking" scenario. Perhaps keeping his spot at USC but still looking for better programs since Kiffy is a terrible coach. I say call the kid, see if he has any interest at all, and go from there. If there's none, at least you tried. A DE/DT in this class would be huge and take a lot of the pressure off of landing 3 or 4 DL next class. Not to mention, he'd have logged some serious hours before Nix/Tuitt depart to the League thus resulting in little to no drop off along the line. Keep those bigs comin, coach!

Eddie is a guy that did have some interest early in the process and considered visiting, IIRC. We should definitely try to get in on that.

I'm going to let the coaching staff do the recruiting. Whatever they are doing seems to be working

I saw. 247's top 100 has 5-6 other DTs beyond those three I listed, many of which remain uncommitted. Hopefully we're at least feeling out some of these guys.

On his thread it shows we didn't even make his top 15, I'm going to go ahead and say no on this one too.

Oh, I think it's at least worth a phone call. That top 15 came out in late spring/early summer; before that, in February or March there was a lot of communication between Vanderdoes and the ND staff and he fully intended to visit ND. True, he eliminated us fairly quickly after that, but who knows if our strong D this year has sparked renewed interest.

Except for DL these last 2 cycles-- 4 guys in 2 years.

None of us are doubting the staff. We're simply acknowledging there are legitimate depth and number concerns along the defensive front. I'm sure they will continue to address the issue next cycle, but that doesn't mean a needed concern still doesn't exist now.

Gerry Hamilton from 247 Sports said that he wouldn't be surprised if we finished with:

Folston
Redfield
Muhammad

He said he would be shocked if we don't get at least two of those.

Edit:
I forgot to mention that Gerry was on the Bill King show this morning and made those comments

Miami's RB, Alex Collins, just decommitted the other night and most are expecting him to flip to FSU since his qb is now committed there.

Does Miami get involved with Folston?

You mind sending the link bro?

Can't give a direct link but if you go to the home page and do the free sign up you can click on "listen to bill" and go to the archives. Go to the mp3 titled "NOV 8, 2012 - HR3" and go to the 23:05 mark to listen to close to 10 minutes talking about the potential remaining recruits as well as some good talk about Anzalone and Jaylon.
Billisking.com - The VOX of College Sport

Edit:
I exaggerated, its only about 6 minutes talking ND recruits.

Possibly. I think Greg Bryant and Derrick Green would be two ahead of him if they showed interest.

So, does he mean we close with 2 of those that we don't already have? So we get all 3? Cause erbody knows that AQM is a silent. He's already been practicing at ND. Duh.

Just to add some explination to the answers that have already been posted, FSU is shooting for Green + Collins this round, then Yearby + Michel next year. If they get them all, I will kill someone.

Gawd that would be an embarrassment of riches.

There was nobody in this class who I wanted more than Ryan Green, except for Jaylon, maybe. Still super jealous.

Deeb can hopefully reel Sony in for us next year though.

I'd be really surprised if Sony went anywhere out of state (Miami most likely).

I wanted RG too, badly. I watched him play last year here in Tampa and he is straight electric. I was half hoping Jimbo would be less interested after his shoulder injury, but no luck.

he was back on bill s king this morning...anyone else hear him...my takeaway from listening to gerry was that folston is going to be nd...and that treadwell is a real possibility. gerry said "nd takes him/makes room no matter how many guys they already have in the class". he mentioned AQM but i cant recall if he mentioned redfield. the big thing for me was the treadwell and folston comments.

Not really sure where to put this, thought about making a tunnel vision thread but Sapp reports that there could be as many as 4 spots open in this class. He said there are two medical situations that could open space. Could be huge.

Nichols and who else?

Other hurt guys or previously hurt are Lo Wood, Luke Massa, Alex Welch, Eilar Hardy, Austin Collinsworth, Amir Carlisle, Chase Hounshell, am I missing someone?

Two issues here: (1) who are the two medical cases; and (2) who gets our 4th and final spot?

I assume Nichols is one of the medicals. I'd guess the other is Wood, Welch or Collinsworth. Losing any of those guys would be bad, but Collinsworth would be the worst.

Prior to learning about a potential 4th spot, I thought we'd finish with Redfield, Muhammad, and Treadwell/ Folston. While taking both Treadwell and Folston would be great for our class ranking, it wouldn't really help shore up our two positions of need-- ILB and DL (DT especially). Here's hoping we're able to poach an elite ILB or DT for that final spot.

Not sure and obviously he isn't going to give names until it is certain to happen. Tate would be a good first guess but after that I have no clue.

Haven't some people said Massa could take a medical? I would prefer him over any of the 3 you mention above.

someone could tweet a reporter to ask BK how a few rehabs are coming along in today's PC.
