decommitting from Stanford. Down to UCLA and TAMU.

We'd better hold on to Anzalone.

If we can't get him, then I hope he ends up at UCLA so he can demonize USC and Stanford over the next few years.

was he going to get admitted into Stanford?

Hadn't heard otherwise. Did hear he was "underwhelmed" by a recent visit to Stanford though. Sounds like a case of a guy committing too early.

Almost sounds like Stanford has tightened up admissions. Just a guess looking at the class they have right now.

and here I thought we cornered the market on the "he couldn't get past admissions" excuse.

Or recruits want to play in front of bigger crowds than they do at their high school games.

True, but with the success they have had lately you would assume they could attract more recruits. Still not NSD but right now it looks like they may have a real small class.

That's interesting Gator. I never heard anything otherwise.

I was just asking I do not have info on the situation. I just know some kids have to wait and see if they are going to get in. Like Emcee says he clearly seemed to be turned off by the lack of football passion Stanford fans have.

No I agree, Stanford is tough to get into and it could very well be the case. It is a process and can take awhile to get your acceptance letter from them. He may just want to be at a more passionate football school? Was a good point!

They may want to revisit that policy then, as their football team will only have 16 guys on it a few years from now-- haha!

This is the Harbaugh factor. The current guy is a good coach, but I wondered when the Harbaugh factor [not being there] would kick in. I think that it has already, and recruiting is the sign. This Stanford team is still a ferocious opponent, but it is built on Harbaugh ferociousness and these upperclassman are running on momentum/attitude. When they go, I'm not sure Stanford stays at powerhouse level.

While I agree that it doesn't seem as tho Stanford will be able to keep pace on the recruiting trail as this years class is falling off. They did have the last two years where they brought in some good talent and those kids will be their for 3-5 yrs

I know Kalimbayi is looking around because he doesn't know if he is going to get in. He said he never imagined it would be this hard. Never heard anything about Isaac not getting in though. Apparently their process is a real pain in a$$ so I am sure a lot of kids just don't want to deal with it.

Underwhelmed? Why's that? Those crowds (using term loosely) are so small that all the fans greet each other by first name before each home game.

Attending a Stanford game is kind of like going to a movie that's been out for like two months, when there's only you and one other person there, and then you feel awkward because you don't want to sit right next to them.

But then they do things like beat USC. That ought to count for something.

You're telling me they have 36 walk-ons? 36 walk-ons who could see the field in meaningful time AND make an impact? Unless that's what you're saying (and I could be WAYYYYY off), then it doesn't matter how many "eligible" players they have). Every team has a practice squad if that's what you mean.

For a chance to receive a Stanford degree for FREE. I'd do a lot of things I wouldn't like to do. These kids just don't understand what they're passing up. Best of luck to them.

i think the problem for some kids is that the process of getting past admissions in stanford is so long that they fear missing out on their 2nd or 3rd choices because their classes might be full by the time stanford has rejected them.

Fair point. Probably right.
