someone is living in 1993-been there, done that

That was my first game...hard not to let that one go since that was the last time we were close to the big game. BC also crushed our hopes in 2002 after the 8-0 start. That being said, I hope we drop 70 points on BC as karma and to dismiss any thoughts of another upset.

I was in stadium the week before and also had tix for BC in 93-did not go as I had to work. Beat myself for weeks not being there as I believed ND always won when I was in the stadium. smh at myself....

Can anyone tell me how Tino Sunseri has been able to get 15 years of NCAA eligibility? Seems like that dude has been there for at least a decade.

While the entire time being booed harshly, and calls for his benching continuously. Quite remarkable he has stuck through all the criticism.

Maybe you have a different definition of "boat race" than I do, but that's normally synonymous with "shoot out".

In our next three games, we'll face the following rush defenses: Pitt (atrocious), BC (average), and WF (bad). Offensively, Pitt is average, BC is bad, and WF is atrocious. None of those team can hang with us on either side of the ball.

I expect 3 Miami-esque performance. Hopefully Kelly runs up the score, because we need voters to take notice.

Giving up 250 yards a game is average?

LOL, yes I was wondering this same thing. If anyone is a Hoosier basketball fan, I used to say the same thing when we played Purdue and Brian Cardinal marched onto the floor.

Pitt is 106th in rushing defense!? My goodness

I totally see us running for over 300 yards in this game. We may literally not pass the ball once.

The last sentence I being facetious... but not the first.

I would like to see all 3 running backs have a career day.

Have all 3 go for over 100 yards or something

Do you think that three runningbacks and a QB all running for 100 yards would get the attention of some pollsters?

A stat line of:

480 yards rushing
Shutout for the defense
56 - 0

haha... we'll probably win 10-6 or something.

Pittsburgh lost starting guard Ryan Schlieper for the season, which will force a first-team starter into the lineup at ND. #BadTiming

S&P ranks their Rushing Defense at 59th. We're still going to run all over them, but compared to Wake Forest (74th) and Pitt (106th), they'll be the least easy to roll over.

No arguing that...although Pitt is 45th defensively in rushing yards per game (148.7). That's better than Oklahoma (163.8)...BC on the other hand is 123rd giving up 273.6 per game.

Pitt is giving up 219.8 passing yards per game which ranks them 40th in that category. They average 2 sacks per game, which ranks lower than WF, USC, Stanford, and BYU in the pass rush. The average passer rating vs. Pitt is 118.9 which actually ranks them one spot lower than Stanford on that one.

Their turnover margin is +0.7 per game and ours is +1.2
They throw an average of .3 ints per game which ranks them #11 in that one...and only average .3 fumbles per game which ranks them #12. They take care of the football.

These boys do get sacked a lot, though...averaging 3.2 sacks per game. I fully expect our front seven to exceed that number greatly!

They are 99th in yards per rush with an average of 3.4 yards per carry. They average 140.7 rushing yards/game which ranks them #79 in that category.

They ar #85 nationally in FG% as well.

Sorry those numbers are all kinda random, but it helps show where they sit nationally. Take a look for yourself: Pittsburgh Panthers: Results, Picks, Power Rankings, Odds & Stats on TeamRankings.com

Here's a stat: I deactivated my facebook account 2 days before Navy, and have not reactivated it one time. I think I am doing my part to help the team win and I will continue this for all of us.

But seriously, thanks all those who post real stats. I love this site, and can always count on good breakdowns of whoever we are playing.

There's a possibility for this being a trap game...will it happen? Nah.

Golson - 15/23 195 yards 2 TD, 58 yards rushing
Rees - 3/4 40 yards, 1 TD
Wood - 128 yards, 1 TD
Riddick - 93 yards, 2 TD
GAIII - 121 yards, 1 TD

ND 58 Pitt 7

I'm not overly concerned with our next three games but who woulda thunk Purdue would be the team with most points scored against us at this point in season.

I don't see this as a trap game. The next 'big' game is weeks away. BYU was the definition of trap game (Coming off big emotional win, huge road game next).

Kelly is keeping them focused 1 game at a time. Players cheered when he said "now find a way to beat Pitt" in the locker room after the OU game.

It helps we didn't have our best showing against them last year.

Pitt Football: Three Panthers have season-ending injuries - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Sam Werner, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
10/30/12

Coach Paul Chryst announced Monday that three players -- linebackers Dan Mason and Manny Williams and offensive lineman Ryan Schlieper -- will miss the rest of the season with injuries.

Mason suffered a lacerated liver making a tackle late in the game. His injury is especially heartwrenching, as the redshirt junior just returned five weeks ago after missing two years with a devastating knee injury. He was starting and excelling at middle linebacker, racking up 27 tackles in five games.

Pitt's confidence grows after offensive display - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

By Sam Werner, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
10/29/12

...

The numbers speak for themselves. Pitt had 528 yards of total offense -- 207 on the ground and 321 through the air -- against Temple. The 47 points were the most Pitt has scored against a Division I-A opponent at Heinz Field.
Sunseri's efficient performance (20 of 28 with three touchdowns) pushed him ahead of Louisville's Teddy Bridgewater for the Big East lead in passing efficiency. Sunseri ranks eighth nationally.
"I think the biggest thing Tino's doing right now is just staying consistent," receiver Devin Street said. "He knows where to go with the ball, the right reads. I think every time we come out, Tino has just grown so much that he's going to do a great job. As long as he has protection, we get open, he's going to do well."
Street was Sunseri's favorite target once again Saturday, with six catches for 140 yards and a touchdown.
While Sunseri and the passing game helped Pitt establish its big lead Saturday, the running game salted it away in the second half. Ray Graham had 109 yards on 19 carries, including a 35-yarder where he juked and cut his way down to the Temple 2. Graham is still trying to regain the form he had before a knee ligament injury last season and that run was a welcome sign.
