ND staff isn't as strict. But Oregon if your committed else where won't let you visit so look for Danny to decommitt

But it's true that this year the ND staff isn't letting ND commits take official visits elsewhere, unless they want to risk losing their spot. At least that's what Sapp has been saying.

I understand that that's different from what you are saying about Oregon; I'm agreeing with you that, to the extent this visit is an OV, Danny is decommitting.

Ironman, I agree with that in theory but he did visit other places and if I'm not mistaken he already visited Oregon this summer so this would be his second time.

Seeing a school in the summer with no one there is much different than going on an OV.

Would it be a huge loss to our class if he left? Wouldn't mind using his spot for a CB or NG.

He is feeling slightly insecure about committing early on to his childhood favorite without visiting some other programs closer to home. This is a life choice, and he wants to be sure that the school he rooted for growing up is the best for his future, and not just a choice from the heart.

I hear what you are saying, but I don't get how a kid can turn down their childhood favorite when it is playing so well.

Anzalone?

Anyway if we end up with smith, deeb, randolph, AQM at lb this year, that is a serious haul. If we lose aa and danny that sucks but there are some serious talent in the 14 class. Need to keep some spots for the big dogs left. Especially if we run the table. Ifmnot no big deal, we keep more 5 th year guys and run the table next year and really be selective with the 14 class.

I think this is so bizarre... I mean, I get not letting your committed players take visits, but why would you not let a kid visit if they are committed somewhere else? Committed kids go and check out schools they have no exposure to and fall in love all of the time. Just seems like a dumb rule to me, but it certainly helps other teams out by either not letting their committed players "scratch an itch" or simply let them know that their committed players aren't really committed.

Wooly, Chip Kelly is another level of egomaniac. He does it because he can and his team wins. Just like going for two first drive of the game. Really questionable stuff but when you win who cares, right? I have to admit I live in Portland and hate the ducks and their fans.

May lose his spot if he follows through with plans to visit Oregon. He's still committed to ND, but the staff is still keeping in touch with other "big skill" guys like Hollins and Hooper and if we get a bite from somebody we like more than Danny, we'll part ways with him. (Muhammad is already figured in ... Danny's recruitment has no impact on Muhammad's). Per BGI.

Did you talk to Coach Kelly or some other source? ;).

Well if he wants to play defense for a team like Oregon, I guess he's not looking to really get much recognition. How much yards were put up between USC and Oregon last week, like 1,400 or something. Good luck on his decision, but if your not going to choose ND to play defense, I'm not sure Oregon would be the next best thing, defensivly atleast, but I'm sure there are other factors. Still though.

I would tend to agree. I get the sense that he wants the Anzalone treatment and we aren't giving it to him(pure speculation). Its great news that AQM is already figured in numbers wise. I want this kid but if he doesn't want to be here we'll be fine.

Personally I really hope he sticks because I like his flexibility to move to tight end if we need him to. If we stick with this power-running stuff (and we are recruiting a fullback in 2014, so it looks like we might), I think we will be able to use more tight ends. So even if Danny is stuck behind Jaylon and Randolph at OLB, he could be a valuable player for us. Special teams, too; we need good special teams guys right now.

Per the writing on the wall.

1) You are not 100% committed if you are considering taking a visit.
2) If you are not 100% committed, the coaching staff may recruit over you.
3) The staff is more likley to recruit over you if you there are already 4 solid commitments at your position (2-3 more highly ranked).
4) There is an even better chance that they recuit over you if they need an extra spot for a high 4-star recruit at another position of need.

However, neither side has reason to make the first move.

Just to be clear, I think Danny is probably torn because he loves ND but sees a better chance to play much sooner at some pretty cool schools much closer to home.
