Swag and team-first are compatible in some cases. All that matters is that he is good enough to back up the talk. If he can walk in, earn the starting role, all is fine. He get his PT, and his performance is his responsibility. If he walks in, and struggles, then you either have trouble, or a learning/humbling experience.

Still want. Didn't see/hear the clip, but we need a few non-criminals with swag.

No way in hell you don't take Alexander if he gives commitment. Could be best true cornerback ND has had since I remember ND football (1992). Not saying he definitely will be day 1 starter but if there is a even a possibility of him making ND history you can't pass him up IMO.

I'd be happy with Moore/Redfield combo. I'd still take Mac and try to work out the kinks.

Don't need him. KeiVarae Russell already made history as a CB at ND.

He wouldn't fit here with our team first attitude. To be honest, I don't think I want him anymore. Don't care how good he is.

He seems like he'd do more harm than good.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you Pat. I'm not sure we know exactly how a player is going to fit with a team based primarily off of an interview, or what he said or didn't say. Lynch was never a big talker, you never saw him saying he was going to be the greatest, he seemed to have kept to himself and out of the media, and his personality didn't fit. I trust the coaches on making the decision on whether a player is going to fit with the team and it's chemistry, more than just reading/listening to a few blurps from an interview. I'm sure there are some guys on our team now that probably have said or have thought to of said the same thing, or in the same context, but doesn't mean they don't mesh well with eacother. It's one thing to go out and say something like that as a HS recruit who won't be back next year to face his teammates, but it's another when you're on a team and you go out and make certain comments that may come across arrogant. I think those sort of things are handled in the locker room, where we don't ever see or hear it even if some of you think you have the inside scoop, which if you aren't in that team locker room, you don't. If Kelly or Diaco didn't feel this kid was the RKG, I'm not sure if they would be pursuing him.

But to support your point I guess, I'm sure they didn't think Lynch was going to be a problem either when they offered him.

That update gave me such a head ache.

Very much so! He kept going on and on about Texas A&M and how they are going to be legit in two years, give me a break they could never win the BIG 12 and now they are gonna rolll the SEC, not happening. I appreciate his confidence but speaking about himself in 3rd person and guaranteeing what he is gonna be doing and who he is better than was in my opinion way over the top.

I don't know, I saw some encouraging things in that article. Is he perhaps over-confident? Yes, and I agree with others that that is a strike against him. But he is incredibly talented, so I don't think there's any question that you take a chance on him if he wants to come to ND.

But the encouraging things are that he wants to go somewhere where he can really make a name for himself, a good school, a rising school that actually cares about its players and that he feels needs him, because early playing time is a priority for him, and where he has the opportunity to be a star. I got the impression that he wants to go to a good football school but NOT Alabama or LSU or any school that has won a national championship in the last decade. He wants to make a name for himself by being a big part of turning things around somewhere. He likes A&M because he wants to help a program get over the hump and become not just a good program but a great program that can beat the Alabamas and LSUs. Sound like ND, anyone?

Sounds to me like ND would be a great fit. I think we need to get him on campus for another visit though, or we lose out to Clemson, which is closer, with better weather, and is also a program trying to get over the hump.

This kid seems to be a potential sh*t-storm, but you still have to take him if he wants to come. He hasn't done anything criminal and lets face it, many extremely gifted young people are extremely emotional.

I like his chances of being highly successful at football and life here more than anywhere else in the country. He could grow up at Notre Dame, and he would be coached by Kelly and Diaco.

For those who don't want Mackensie because he acts different. Has it ever been reported he's been in trouble? Or been a bad teammate? Trust me kids love Mack down in that area from everything I was told. If he was a potential **** storm don't you think the staff would have stopped recruiting him? I trust all of our staff moves besides a couple last year. Bk and alford know what there doing in this recruitment.

You mean like when he and his teammates got into a fight with some douchebags in the stands after a game? Plus, you rarely know for sure that a headcase is a headcase until after he's enrolled somewhere... but there is always some evidence/warning signs beforehand. There are definitely some warning signs here, and you have to be intentionally trying to ignore them (like so many of us did with other players who I won't name) to not see them.

And the second sentence I bolded I think encapsulates the issue at hand. Our staff does make mistakes... just like every other staff in the country. I have no doubt they're willing to roll the dice because of his A+ talent level, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's a good fit.

At least he doesn't commit, decommit, commit, and take visits elsewhere.

True story. I have no evidence or info whatsoever, just a feeling from the way Mack handles his recruitment that he is basically and intentionally trolling reporters and fans. And don't take it that I mean it maliciously either. He knows what reporters cover what outlets/schools, and caters his interview to that outlet/fanbase/school.

I'd much rather keep an eye on a recruitment where the player changes his top 5 constantly than one with three decision dates and decommitments. Unless of course it's a prospect that ND is not pursuing. Then three decision dates and decommitments is just pure entertainment.

Jake Brown was also at the BC vs Immokalee game last week and Mack only played the first series and sat out the rest of the game. Not injured, coach wouldn't comment on it and Mack was not allowed to be interviewed after the game.

Just, ya know, an FYI.

The chippy-ness going on between WRs and DBs makes me think Mac is more the type of a trash talker/ show-boat than a "thug" or problem for the locker room... but what do I know.

Back to the game now.

Blow J lover is on the spot. Mack has swagger. To be a great defensive player, you have to have confidence and trash talk the opponent. I want Mack in the ND backfield and I really think he belongs here. Y'all heard of Cortland Finnegan? Yeah, he's an a-hole, but good. You'd take him on your team.
