That is one heck of a spread to cover with the way we have been playing. I think I will just stick with ND winning this week.

ND, like just about every team, is ~.500 against the spread long term. They were woeful at covering the spread for obvious reasons (see: Navy, Syracuse, UCONN) under Weis for the last couple years... but I also think they destroyed the spread in his year 1.

ND was positive against the spread last year... somewhere between 7-4-2 and 5-5-3 depending on where you look.

So yeah... just like most "common knowledge facts" it is a fallacy that ND is "always overrated" or "never beats the spread."

I've lost 75mil this year on the Irish, and not just when they lost. Me and the spread aren't getting along at the moment. I will wait till the Irish wins / Purdue wins is added.

I don't think it's the Spread that gives us problems; it's mobile QBs. After two knee surgeries, Marve isn't any more mobile than Crist.

It's just a mix of people hedging with a bet that we won't cover the spread. We should cover, but we're thus far 1-3 ATS; I can't say it's a bad bet.
